Abstract: Techniques are provided for tomographic imaging with sub-beam resolution and spectral enhancement. A system implementing the techniques according to an embodiment includes a target structure comprising one or more selected materials nanopatterned on a first surface of the target structure in a selected arrangement. The system also includes a primary particle beam source to provide a particle beam incident on an area of the first surface of the target structure, the area encompassing one or more of the nanopatterned materials, such that the materials generate characteristic X-rays in response to the primary beam. The system further includes a spectral energy detector (SED) to perform individual photon counting and spectral analysis of the characteristic X-rays and estimate attenuation properties of the imaged sample. The sample is positioned both adjacent to a second surface of the target structure, opposite the first surface, and between the target structure and the SED.

Abstract: A heat dissipation structure is disclosed that is especially well-suited for use on aerodynamic systems. The heat dissipation structure is formed within a metallic body that surrounds the heat-generating electronics. The heat dissipation structure is designed to both dissipate the generated heat and also to isolate RF cross-talk between the one or more transmitters and receivers. The heat dissipation structure includes a plurality of ring structures that extend around at least a portion of a body that houses the one or more heat-generating electrical components. The plurality of ring structures may be recessed into the body, and a first spacing between a first adjacent pair of ring structures of the plurality of ring structures is different from a second spacing between a second adjacent pair of ring structures of the plurality of ring structures.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for phase coherent frequency synthesis. An embodiment includes a first phase accumulator to accumulate a frequency control word (FCW) at a clocked rate to produce a first digital phase signal representing phase data corresponding to phase points on a first sinusoidal waveform. The embodiment also includes a second phase accumulator to produce an incrementing reference count at the clocked rate and multiply it by the FCW to produce a second digital phase signal representing phase data corresponding to phase points on a second sinusoidal waveform. The multiplication is performed in response to change in the FCW. The embodiment further includes a multiplexer to select between the first and second digital phase signals based on completion of the multiplication. The embodiment also includes a phase-to-amplitude converter to generate digital amplitude data corresponding to the phase points on a sinusoidal waveform associated with the selected digital phase signal.

Abstract: A system and method for a bistatic coherent LIDAR system with lasers locked to a reference. Utilizing atomic absorption lines to lock the frequency for the bistatic system provides an absolute reference, as each of the lasers in the bistatic system would have the same frequency to within the linewidth of the frequency reference. Each laser may also be additionally locked to an optical cavity for increased frequency stability. Not only does such a system provide essentially an infinite aperture, it also reduces laser power requirements because the detector platforms could be much closer to the target than the platform that contains the laser.

Abstract: Techniques and architecture are disclosed for inferring a unified topological model of a hidden topology comprising dispersing data packets from a source to at least one receiver, and collecting individual end-to-end packet statistics; collecting aggregate end-to-end statistical measurements between a plurality of enclaves situated at an edge of an unknown network; identifying shared path correlations relating to shared links traversed between at least one root enclave and one or more leaf enclaves; constructing topological metrics as a directed tree corresponding to shared path correlations; inferring a unified topological model and routing paths of the unknown network based on the plurality of topological metrics collected by the plurality of enclaves; validating consistency between the subsequent end-to-end statistical measurements and the unified topological model of the hidden topology; and updating the inferred unified topological model of the hidden topology in accordance with observed inconsistencies.

Abstract: A guided projectile including a precision guidance munition assembly utilizes angular rate sensors to sample a first angular velocity of the precision guidance munition assembly from the first angular rate sensor at a first time, sample a second angular velocity of the precision guidance munition assembly from the second angular rate sensor at the first time, generate a coning command based, at least in part, on the first angular velocity and the second angular velocity, and apply the coning command to the canard assembly. The range may be decreased or increased based on the coning commands.

Abstract: The system and method for hyperspectral target identification provides for sue of a sensor array such that for a 2 by 2 pixel, each pixel is set to a different wavelength by employing a band pass filter, so that one can determine whether a cluster set is of a natural object or a man-made object. Using ratios of the collected energy within the partitioned sub-bands one can make near real-time declarations about targets and in some cases, friend or foe determinations.
