Abstract: A nuclear power station for location in heavily populated areas has a nuclear reactor which is surrounded by a conventional containment vessel. The containment vessel is located in a rock cavern forming a secondary containment and is supported from beneath and laterally by the floor and the walls of the rock cavern. The rock cavern is reinforced and made tight by injection of grout and a third containment is formed by the surrounding ground water which may be provided artificially. A pressure transmitting, missile protecting and non-leaktight shield is provided between the reactor and the primary containment so that the reactor is indirectly supported by the rock chamber walls.

Abstract: A harmonic filter is connected between two conductors joining a harmonic source to a network. The filter is composed of two impedance devices each including at least one impedance element, the impedance elements being either beoth inductive or both capacitative. One of the impedance devices is connected as a series element in one of the conductors, while the other impedance device is connected to the other of the conductors and an output of the first impedance device. There is a blocking circuit for the current of the network which forms a part of the second impedance device.

Abstract: A press for hydrostatic extrusion includes a press stand and a high pressure cylinder displaceable in the stand. A punch is mounted for movement into the high pressure cylinder to produce the extrusion pressure therein. The billet and die are positioned by a manipulating arrangement between the open end of the high pressure cylinder and a die support, and the cylinder is moved over the billet and die. Pressure fluid is then introduced through the die support and die into the pressure chamber, flow of the fluid out of the chamber being prevented by a valve arrangement or by seating of the billet against the die. The punch is then advanced into the pressure cylinder to produce extrusion.

Abstract: An inverter is formed of at least one connection group which is connected to and arranged to be fed from a DC source. Such connection group includes two controlled main rectifiers connected in series with each other between the poles of the DC source, with their connection point forming the output terminal for the output voltage. The rectifiers are ignited alternately. There are also two controlled commutating rectifiers forming in series with each other a part of a connection between the two poles of the DC source and alternately ignited to extinguish the main rectifiers. Between the connection point of the main rectifier and a point in said series connection there is a commutating capacitor. An inductive element is connected with the commutating capacitor to form a series oscillating circuit to recharge the capacitor at each commutation. Limiting rectifiers are connected between each pole of the DC source and the terminal of the commutating capacitor which is connected to the alternating output. The limiting rectifiers have such a polarity that they block for the voltage of the DC source. The inductive element is formed of two reactors each having two windings inductively connected to each other, one of the windings connected in series with a commutating rectifier connected to one pole of the DC source and the other winding in series with a limiting rectifier connected to the other pole of the source.

Abstract: A spark gap for surge diverters is composed of a plurality of plates of insulating material stacked one on the other with spaces there between. Electrodes are carried on each face of the plates. The electrodes have parts connected to each other by attachment members passing through the plates. Abstract: A press for hot hydrostatic extrusion of a billet, has a stand, a pressure chamber axially movable in the stand to engage a die mounted in one end against a die support carried by the stand, a punch slidable in the pressure chamber to raise a pressure medium in the pressure chamber to extrusion pressure, and a billet holder slidable in the chamber for pressing the billet against the die during sliding movement of the pressure chamber to closing position. Abstract: A reversible converter for feeding a DC load such as a motor from an AC network has a current regulator which is supplied with a signal representing the actual value of the direct current and a desired value. The regulator is connected both to an emitter for delivering control pulses to the rectifier with a control angle which is dependent on the output voltage of the current regulator, and to a device for switching the polarity of the converter depending on the polarity of the desired current value, which causes a retarding of the converter towards inverter operation before shifting of the polarity of the converter, unblocking and advancing towards rectifier operation. A member which senses the voltage over the DC load is connected to the current regulator when the polarity of the inverter is shifted and delivers to it a signal corresponding to a control angle of the control pulses such that the sum of the inner direct voltage of the converter and the voltage over the DC load is slightly less than zero.
