摘要: A motor-vehicle headlight assembly which has an interchangeable colored translucent cup centered over the light source by a three linear member housing. The headlight assembly also has a region of its lens colored differently with a reflective enclosure behind it wherein a signal light resides. This allows the installer to change both the look of the headlight and the color of the center most region of the light beam emitted from the headlight.

摘要: The present invention provides a door opening assist device comprising a compression spring and piston retainably housed in a bind ended longitudinal bore formed in an externally threaded cylindrical housing. The spring and piston are held in cooperative engagement between a retaining nut and the blind end. The piston has a single protuberance extending normally from it's surface that resides in and travels about a spiral groove formed in the housing. The spiral groove has a series of detents, one of which can be selected to trap the protuberance and stop the spinning piston as it travels along the housing bore. The door opening assist device is installed in a door frame of an automobile to push the door open a distance determined by the detent selected. Upon closing the door, the door abuts and retracts the piston into the housing compressing the spring. Upon unlatching the door, the piston extends under spring bias in such a direction and with sufficient force to push the door to an open position a predetermined distance. The door opening assist device provides various mounting options through the use of a jam nut and a mounting plate.

摘要: A process for preparing saccharide oligomers uses an aqueous feed composition that comprises at least one monosaccharide or linear saccharide oligomer, and has a solids concentration of at least about 70% by weight. The feed composition is heated to a temperature of at least about 40° C., and is contacted with at least one catalyst that accelerates the rate of cleavage or formation of glucosyl bonds, such as enzyme or acid, for a time sufficient to cause formation of non-linear saccharide oligomers. A product composition is produced that contains a higher concentration of non-linear saccharide oligomers than linear saccharide oligomers.

摘要: The present invention relates to a system for measuring respiratory function of living organisms. More particularly, signals indicative of the change in lung volume, defined as active and passive work, required to breathe and the airflow through the respiratory system of the living organism are obtained and processed as waveforms to provide a signal indicative of the respiratory restriction. The methods of the present invention measure clinical forms of airway obstruction, airway reactivity and lung volume and may be used to continuously or intermittently monitor patients with compromised respiratory function. In a preferred embodiment, a head-out, breath in respiratory plethysmograph system provides the signals indicative of change in lung volume as related to pressure changes in a chamber. Further, flowmetric variables are generated that provide a characterization of airway obstructions.

摘要: An illuminated remote control device providing illumination in the visible spectrum and the functionality of a wireless signal transmitter. Light projects from one or more translucent portions of the remote control device. The illuminated remote control device comprises a housing defining an outer surface and a cavity therein. The housing comprises at least one translucent portion adapted for the transmission of light from the cavity to the outer surface of the housing. At least one control feature is provided to operate transmitter electronics and/or the light source housed in the cavity. The light source produces light within the cavity, the light being then guided from the cavity to the surface by a translucent portion of the housing. The illumination provides the user with an increased ability to see or be seen in the dark and provides illumination that is visually appealing.

摘要: According to the present invention, there is provided a method of monitoring a fluid in a fluid carrying conduit comprising the steps of: monitoring a fluid characteristic at a first point and second point along the conduit substantially continuously, determining first and second quantities, being related to a differential with respect to time of the value of the fluid characteristic at the first and second points respectively, combining the first and second quantities to produce a two dimensional intensity function of time and a position variable and analysing the magnitude of the intensity function to derive information relating to the fluid. The intensity function may represent a substantially continuous probability function, wherein its absolute value is related to the probability of a leak or theft having occurred in the conduit. Furthermore, a method of determining the presence and location of leaks in, or thefts from, the conduit by determining whether or not the magnitude of the intensity function satisfies pre-determined criteria is disclosed. A method of determining the speed of pressure waves propagating through a fluid flowing in a fluid carrying conduit by analysing the two dimensional intensity function is also disclosed. An apparatus suitable for performing all of the above mentioned methods is also claimed.
