    Abstract: A fluid regulator includes an actuator, a body assembly, and a balancing system disposed between the actuator assembly and the body assembly. The actuator assembly includes an upper casing, a lower casing secured to the upper casing, and a diaphragm assembly disposed between the upper and lower casings. The body assembly includes a stem assembly operatively connected to the diaphragm assembly to move with the diaphragm assembly. The balancing system includes a diaphragm operatively connected to the stem assembly to move with the stem assembly. The lower casing of the actuator assembly includes a wall defining a portion of a balancing cavity that receives the balancing system and an inner surface that ends at a shoulder and has an annular groove formed therein that receives a portion of the diaphragm as the fluid regulator moves from a fully open position to a lockup position.

    Abstract: A balanced pressure regulator includes a valve body having a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet connected by a fluid passageway. A valve seat is disposed within the fluid passageway. A self-aligning valve plug is at least partially disposed within the fluid passageway, the self-aligning valve plug interacting with the valve seat to selectively open or close the fluid passageway. A retainer is partially disposed within a bore of the self-aligning valve plug and operatively connects the self-aligning valve plug to a valve stem having a ball portion. More specifically, the retainer includes a recess adapted to receive the ball portion of the valve stem, such that the self-aligning valve plug automatically rotates around the ball portion of the valve stem to achieve alignment and sealing engagement between a valve disc of the self-aligning valve plug and the valve seat.

    Abstract: A slam-shut safety device having a disc arrestor includes a valve body, a valve seat between an inlet and an outlet, and a reset pin shiftable between untripped and tripped positions. A valve disc support includes has a threaded stem and is operatively coupled to the reset pin. A valve disc fits on the stem of the support and shifts in response to movement of the valve disc support between an open position and a closed second position in which the valve disc is seated against the valve seat. A threaded nut is securable to the threaded portion of the stem of the valve disc support, and an arrestor spring is positioned on the stem of the valve disc support and is secured by the threaded nut. The arrestor spring is arranged to apply a biasing force to valve disc.

    Abstract: A balanced port control assembly includes a control element with a valve plug coupled to a valve stem and a pressure sensing labyrinth defined at least partly by the valve plug. The pressure sensing labyrinth provides for fluid communication between a sealing surface of the valve plug and a balancing diaphragm carried internally of the control element. The pressure sensing labyrinth includes at least one pressure sensing passage extending from the sealing surface and into the valve plug along a central longitudinal axis of the control element.     Abstract: Balanced plug assemblies and pressure regulators having balanced plug assemblies are described herein. A pressure regulator disclosed herein includes a device body defining a fluid passageway between an inlet and an outlet. The device body defines a channel between the fluid passageway and a pressure sense chamber. The pressure regulator includes a seat in the fluid passageway, a stem having a flange, and a plug coupled to the stem. The pressure regulator also includes a stem guide disposed in the channel of the device body. The flange of the stem disposed in a balance chamber of the stem guide and divides the balance chamber into a first balance chamber portion and a second balance chamber portion. The stem guide at least partially forms a balance passage that fluidly couples the pressure sense chamber and the second balance chamber portion.
