    Abstract: Provided is a method for producing a single crystal, wherein compositional variations and defects in the single crystal can be prevented and a single crystal having uniform characteristics in the growth direction can be produced at high yield. In this method for producing a single crystal, a PbTiO3-containing single crystal is produced by the vertical Bridgman technique, wherein the thickness of a melt layer containing the melt in a crucible is at least 30 mm.

    Abstract: A positive electrode material is used for a lithium secondary battery. The material includes a complex oxide whose overall composition is expressed by LiaNibMcNdLeOx, where M: one or two chemical elements selected from Mn and Co, N: one, two, or more chemical elements selected from the group consisting of Mg, Al, Ti, Cr, and Fe, L: one, two, or more chemical elements selected from the group consisting of B, C, Na, Si, P, S, K, Ca, and Ba, and where a/(b+c+d): 0.80 to 1.30, b/(b+c+d): 0.30 to 0.95, c/(b+c+d): 0.05 to 0.60, d/(b+c+d): 0.005 to 0.10, e/(b+c+d): 0.0005 to 0.010, b+c+d=1, and x: 1.5 to 2.5.
