摘要： An encoding controlling apparatus is disclosed which includes: offset holding means for holding an offset equivalent to a time period by which to start encoding an audio signal earlier than a video signal upon recording of a chapter; recording mode determining means for determining whether a seamless connection is possible between the preceding chapter and the following chapter in order to set an initial value of the offset depending on an outcome of the determination; offset updating means for updating the offset in keeping with progress in encoding the video signal and the audio signal; and recording controlling means for giving an instruction either to start or to stop the encoding of the video signal and the audio signal in accordance with the offset. The inventive apparatus controls the encoding process in keeping with the offset between the audio and video signals, thereby achieving seamless connection between chapters without incurring discrepancies between the video and audio signals.

摘要： A configuration is provided which realizes efficiency of playback and editing of recorded data in an information recording medium. Recording is performed of GOP attributes, as mark management information corresponding to a PLM (=EM) mark serving as playback start point information stipulated in the AVCD format, indicating whether or not a GOP including the mark is a GOP needing decoding information of another GOP at the time of decoding processing of the GOP, and playback and editing are performed referencing these information, thereby preventing decoding unnecessary in playback processing, and enabling editing without leaving data unnecessary in editing processing.

From an optical disk as a recording medium, a title retrieval section reads title information about each title of motion picture data recorded on the optical disk. A chapter retrieval section reads chapter information about each chapter in the corresponding title based on the title information obtained in this manner. Based on the chapter information obtained in this manner, a representative picture selection section selects a representative picture in each chapter. A menu generation section generates the top menu including a display area to reproduce chapters based on the chapter information obtained by the chapter retrieval section.

摘要： Recording of video data is enabled by a management structure of a clip which is compatible with a BD-ROM standard. In accordance with the recording starting operation, the recording of a stream in which the video data and audio data have time-divisionally been multiplexed on a packet unit basis onto a recording medium is started. In accordance with the recording stopping operation, the stream stored in a buffer is written as a stream file onto the recording medium and a clip information file corresponding to the stream file is formed. A play item showing the whole clip information file is formed and added to the existing play list on the recording medium. A mark is stamped to the play list at time corresponding to an IN point of the play item. Subsequently, the play item which is formed in association with the recording start and stop is similarly further added to the existing play list and the mark is further stamped at the time corresponding to the IN point.

摘要： Non-destructive editing of a movie stream recorded with management information attached thereto according to a predetermined standard format is performed. First, an entry for desired content from among real play lists is added to a virtual play list. In the virtual play list, a playback content editing operation is performed. The process of editing a virtual play list that does not contain content of an entity involves non-destructive editing that does not accompany editing of the content of an entity. In addition, non-destructive editing of a virtual play list only requires the updating of a management information file, and only involves an increase in the used amount of the recording medium by the additional amount of the management information even if a playback section is copied, thus improving user convenience.

Through the prior reservation process of the clip information file, an updating process for updating the clip information file at the start of recording of the subsequent chapter becomes unnecessary. Data recording, such as a photographing operation of a video camera is thus quickly started.
