Abstract:
Amidamines of the following formula are described: ##STR1## where R is independently hydrogen or lower alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms;R' is an alkyl group if k is 1, or an alkylene group if k is greater than 1; where R' has 2 to 18 carbon atoms;R" is independently lower alkylene of 2 to 4 carbon atoms;R'" is independently straight or branched lower alkylene of 2 to 6 carbon atoms;x is independently 1 to 200;y is independently 1 to 300;z is independently 1 to 200;p is independently 2 to 11; andk is from 1 to 8; where the x and z groups may be distributed in blocks or randomly. These compositions are made by reacting a cyclic lactam with an etheramine. Incorporation of increasing quantities of the polyetherpolyamine did not decrease the crystalline melting point (T.sub.m) of the resulting copolymer. The polyamidopolyfunctional amines (poly(amide-ether-amide) triblock copolymers) have a relatively low modulus and retain higher use temperatures than current polyetheramide segment block copolymers. The polyamidopolyether amines may be further interconnected through reaction with dicarboxylic acids, esters and the like.

Ultrasonic blade coupler comprising a blade element composed of a material selected from aluminum and titanium rendered sharpenable by a surface hardening treatment. The blade coupler exhibits improved acoustical properties with reduced energy consumption.
Abstract:
A corner molding for joining in particular the front cross rail of a refrigerator to the side wall, the molding having a slot in a plane parallel to the surface of the body of the molding to receive the front cross rail and an abutment against which is engaged the side wall of the refrigerator.
Abstract:
A light fitting is provided with a first connector piece arranged to support a light and provide power thereto, an input connected to a power source and arranged to provide power permanently to an output comprising a primary coil, and a transmitter operable to transmit a switch signal. A light is provided comprising a sealed light housing, a light source, a back-up battery, a controller and a second connector piece having a secondary coil and a receiver. The receiver receives the switch signal and the controller controls power delivery to the light source in response to the switch signal received by the receiver thereby to turn the light on and off. The light fitting and the light are arranged to present the primary coil and the secondary coil for inductive coupling therebetween and to present the transmitter and the receiver for wireless communication therebetween.
Abstract:
A polyether monoamine containing from about 36 to about 44 ethylene oxide units and from about 1 to about 6 propylene oxide units is useful as a reactant with functionalized polypropylene such as maleated polypropylene to form a reaction product blended with polypropylene.
Abstract:
A compound comprising a blend of polypropylene with the reaction of a functionalized polypropylene and polyether amine in which the polyetheramine is grafted into the functionalized polypropylene in a customary mixing apparatus is disclosed. The blend may include an elastomer such as EP rubber and/or a filler such as glass. A process for producing the reaction product of the functionalized polypropylene and the polyether amine by melting with polypropylene in a customary mixing apparatus is also disclosed. Blends of the present invention are advantageously useful to prepare paintable automotive body parts.
Abstract:
Compositions comprising copolyetherester resins, copolyetherimide ester resins, or mixtures thereof, in combination with a high molecular weight polyester resin or mixture of such resins, with relatively high loadings of fillers selected from zinc oxide, barium sulfate, zirconium oxide, zirconium silicate, strontium sulfate or a mixture of any of such fillers, provide highly dense thermoplastic molded articles with properties suitable to replace ceramics and filled thermosets in many important applications.
Abstract:
A normally closed fluid switching logic element has a plurality of radial ports to a first chamber. A poppet, connected to a piston within the element, moves between an open position off its poppet seat and a closed position. In the open position another port is provided to the first chamber permitting fluid flow. The poppet is biased to the closed position by a spring, but also by fluid pressure at either or both ports. The poppet may be displaced only by pressure in a second chamber behind the piston. In one configuration this opening pressure is provided from an external source. In other configurations, the opening pressure is derived from the first chamber, from the pressure outside the poppet and from either of these.
