Abstract:
A method of making mixed media artwork includes cutting a metal sheet; applying an adhesive layer to an outer surface of the metal sheet; applying one or more polymer layers to the adhesive layer, wherein the one or more polymer layers create an image on the outer surface; and deforming the metal sheet to create a three-dimensional outer surface.
Abstract:
A tripod has an extensible strut for improving the stability thereof by tying the strut to a sturdy object. In another aspect of the invention, a method of using a tripod includes attaching the tripod to a sturdy object. In another aspect of the invention, a novel caster wheel mechanism permits easy relocation of the tripod. In another aspect of the invention, a multi-function support is provided. In yet another aspect of the invention, a tool rack is provided supported by the tripod.
Abstract:
A portable coordinate measurement machine for measuring the position of an object in a selected volume includes a positionable articulated arm having a plurality of jointed arm segments. The arm includes a measurement probe having an integrated line laser scanner mounted thereon. The laser may be a thermally stabilized laser.

Abstract:
A portable coordinate measurement machine comprises an articulated arm having jointed arm segments. The arm includes a measurement probe having an integrated line laser scanner rotatably mounted thereon.
Abstract:
A portable coordinate measurement machine comprises an articulated arm having jointed arm segments. The arm is progressively tapered from the base to the probe and preferably the jointed arm segments include tapered and/or threaded ends.
Abstract:
A method for providing feedback to the operator of a portable coordinate measurement machine which comprises an articulated arm having jointed arm segments is presented. The method includes sensing deformation of a portion of the articulated arm when the arm is placed under a load, the deformation being an indication of the magnitude of the external force being applied to the arm, and providing feedback to the operator of the CMM in response to the sensed external forces.
Abstract:
A method for improving the measurement accuracy of a portable coordinate measurement machine which comprises an articulated arm having jointed arm segments is presented. This method includes sensing deformation of a portion of the articulated arm when the arm is placed under a load, this deformation causing an error in the measurement made by the CMM, and correcting such error in response to the sensed deformation.

Abstract:
A portable coordinate measurement machine comprises an articulated arm having joint arm segments. The arm includes a probe at one end thereof. The probe has an integrally mounted touch trigger probe which is easily convertible to a hard probe. The probe also includes improved switches and a measurement indicator light. The probe further includes a rotatable handle cover surrounding the probe.
