Abstract: Nasal implants are provided that have a planar type profile with open spaces through portions of the planar type profile. The nasal implant can be compressible along one or more dimensions of the nasal implant, such as the width and length of the planar type profile. Delivery tools for deploying the nasal implants within the nasal tissue are also provided. Methods for deploying the nasal implants within the nasal tissue of the patient are also provided.

Abstract: A system for preventing of non-compliant use of equipment during a surgical procedure including one or more devices positioned within an operating room, a display, and a computer program product. The computer program product having instructions stored on non-transitory computer-readable medium and, when executed by one or more processors, causing the one or more processors to: receive signals from the one or more devices, wherein the signals are directed to at least a surgical site of a patient; provide the signals to a trained machine-learning model trained on signals representative of nominal and adverse medical events; determining based on the signals, with the trained machine-learning model, the non-compliant use of the equipment in a manner to produce a potential adverse medical event; and cause a notification or alarm to be displayed on the display based on the determination of the non-compliant use.

Abstract: Methods and systems for automatically determining correspondences between communication ports of a networked device and encoders and decoders connected to those communication ports. In some embodiments, the networked device and the encoders and decoders are connected to a video communications network provided by a switch. The networked device can query the video communications network for information related to the encoders and decoders to determine and save the port-to-device correspondences. In some embodiments, the networked device can extract device information from video signals received at its input ports to map the input ports to respectively connected decoders. In similar fashion, the networked device may transmit or embed port-specific information from its output ports to respectively connected encoders. Then, the networked device can query the video communications network for the port-specific information received at the encoders to map the output ports to respectively connected encoders.

Abstract: A system for detecting disposal of metallic objects into an opening of a medical waste container, including: an indicator for indicating passage of metallic objects through the opening, a pair of receive coils and a transmit coil spaced therebetween shaped for receiving waste therethrough adjacent to the opening, and a controller in electrical communication with the coils. The controller generates and communicates a transmit signal to the transmit coil, which generates a magnetic field that induces voltage in each of the receive coils, which each generate a receive signal. The controller generates a waveform based on the receive signals with a baseline corresponding to absence of metallic objects, and analyzes the waveform with respect to opposite first and second thresholds. The controller activates the indicator in response to metallic objects passing through the coils when the waveform first exceeds the first threshold and then subsequently exceeds the second threshold.

The autoclavable surgical handpiece includes a potting material disposed between the visible light emitter and the housing, the potting material having a melting point above 120 degrees Celsius and being configured to thermally insulate the visible light emitter and to transmit visible light emitted by the visible light emitter therethrough.
