Abstract: Provided herein are systems and methods for transmitting medical imaging data across a transmission channel that may be bandwidth constrained. In one or more examples, the system and methods can include transmitting the medical imaging data across a channel using a first specification, and then changing the specification in response to a detected reduction in the available bandwidth of the channel. In one or more examples, the second specification can be based on the type of video data being transmitted. In one or more examples, the medical video data can be apportioned into a region of interest and a region of non-interest, and each region can be transmitted across the channel based on the available bandwidth of the channel.

Abstract: An exemplary method of displaying an intraoperative image of a surgical site comprises: receiving a plurality of images captured by a plurality of in-light cameras integrated into one or more surgical light units illuminating the surgical site, wherein the plurality of images capture the surgical site from a plurality of different perspectives; identifying an obstruction to the surgical site in an image of the plurality of images; responsive to identifying the obstruction, generating a composite image based on a set of the plurality of images, wherein the composite image excludes the obstruction; and displaying the composite image as the intraoperative image of the surgical site.

Abstract: Methods and systems for automatically determining correspondences between communication ports of a networked device and encoders and decoders connected to those communication ports. In some embodiments, the networked device and the encoders and decoders are connected to a video communications network provided by a switch. The networked device can query the video communications network for information related to the encoders and decoders to determine and save the port-to-device correspondences. In some embodiments, the networked device can extract device information from video signals received at its input ports to map the input ports to respectively connected decoders. In similar fashion, the networked device may transmit or embed port-specific information from its output ports to respectively connected encoders. Then, the networked device can query the video communications network for the port-specific information received at the encoders to map the output ports to respectively connected encoders.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates generally to improving surgical safety, and more specifically to techniques for automated detection of non-compliance to surgical protocols in a surgical environment such as an operating room. An exemplary method comprises: receiving one or more images of the operating room captured by one or more cameras; detecting a surgical milestone associated with a surgery in the operating room using a first set of one or more trained machine-learning models based on the received one or more images; detecting one or more activities in the operating room using a second set of one or more trained machine-learning models based on the received one or more images; and determining, based on the detected one or more activities and a surgical protocol associated with the detected surgical milestone, that an instance of non-compliance to the surgical protocol has occurred in the operating room.
