Abstract: A method for determining a quality control quantity corresponding to energy provided by a seismic source and related devices are provided. The method includes determining an envelope of a pilot signal associated with the seismic source; measuring a source signal of the energy provided by the seismic source; normalizing the pilot signal and the source signal using the determined envelope; and determining, in a processor, the quality control quantity using the normalized pilot signal and the normalized source signal. A control mechanism configured to implement the method includes a storage device holding data of a pilot signal associated with the seismic source; and a processor connected to the storage device and configured to carry out the method steps. A computer-readable medium having instructions to carry out steps of the method is also provided.

Abstract: It is proposed a method for automatically assigning wireless seismic acquisition units to topographic positions, each wireless seismic acquisition unit includes a satellite navigation system receiver. The method has the following steps, carried out by an assigning device: obtaining topographic locations at which the wireless seismic acquisition units are expected to be laid; obtaining measured positions of the wireless seismic acquisition units, corresponding to or derived from position information provided by the satellite navigation system receivers when the wireless seismic acquisition units are installed on the ground, each near one of the topographic locations; and computing associations, each between one of the wireless seismic acquisition units and one of the topographic positions, as a function of a comparison between the measured positions and the topographic locations.

Abstract: This invention relates to a data communication system/method for use in a downhole application wherein electrical energy is supplied over a multiple-conductor power cable to a motor assembly of a downhole tool such as an electric submersible pump. A power leg coupling interfaces a surface controller of a downhole instrument to the conductors of the tool's power cable. Uplink communication of telemetry data occurs via current modulation generated by the downhole instrument and interpreted by a surface controller. Downlink communication of downhole instrument data occurs over a different communication scheme supported by the downhole and surface controllers. Downlink communication scheme provides a supply of power to the downhole instrument. Protection of downhole electronics and continuity of communication is ensured in the event of a ground fault on the power cable. Both downlink and uplink communication frequencies are adaptive based on frequencies and voltages present on the power cable.

Abstract: A method for localizing a marine animal in an underwater environment implemented by a passive acoustic monitoring (PAM) system. The method includes: obtaining, from the network of acoustic sensors, measured data of an acoustic signal emitted by a marine animal; defining a space of dimensional representation of the underwater environment discretized in a plurality of predefined cells, for each cell of a predefined set, obtaining an error defined as a value of a cost function for the cell, the cost function giving a deviation between: at least some of the measured data; and corresponding theoretical data obtained by assuming the marine animal is located in the cell, the errors obtained for the predefined set of cells enabling to obtain at least one piece of information about localization of the marine animal.
