Abstract:
An ink-jet ink includes a jettable vehicle, a plurality of pigment solids dispersed in the jettable vehicle, and a plurality of structurally related polymers dispersed in the jettable vehicle. Additionally, a system for printing images on a porous photo medium includes a jettable ink and a printhead loaded with the jettable ink.
Abstract:
An ink-jet ink which includes a liquid vehicle and a polymer-dispersed pigment dispersed in the liquid vehicle is disclosed and described. More specifically, the polymer-dispersed pigment can include a pigment encapsulated with a polymer having hydrophilic and hydrophobic moieties. The polymer can be a polymerization product of at least a first monomer having a hydrophilic group, and a second monomer having a hydrophobic group. Further, the polymer can be configured such that the polymer-dispersed pigment is stable in the liquid vehicle at a pH of from about 5.5 to about 8.5. Such polymer-dispersed pigments allow for formation of ink-jet inks with improved options for bleed control mechanisms and increased reliability of ink-jet architecture.
Abstract:
A print head module for delivering ink to a print head comprising a module venting system comprising a one-time vent built into the interior of the print head module in which, when an amount of ink comes in contact with the one-time vent, air is prevented from passing through the one-time vent. A system for delivering ink to a print head comprising a print head, a external reservoir of ink, and a print head module comprising a one-time vent built into the interior of the print head module and fluidly coupling the print head to the external reservoir of ink, in which, when an amount of ink comes in contact with the one-time vent within the print head module, air is prevented from passing through the one-time vent.
Abstract:
An ink composition includes a colorant, a co-solvent, and an acid chosen from oleic acid, linoleic acid, undecanoic acid, dodecanoic acid, tridecanoic acid, and combinations thereof. The ink composition further includes lithium and water. An anti-evaporative layer forms, during uncapped non-use, at an interface between air and the ink composition in an orifice of a nozzle, thereby reducing evaporation of the water from the ink composition.
Abstract:
An inkjet ink including a polymer-attached pigment formulated to exhibit a compact configuration and an elongated configuration, which provides the polymer-attached pigment with a variable particle size. The polymer-attached pigment may include a pigment having at least one polymer attached to its surface. The at least one polymer may be formed from a hydrophobic segment and a hydrophilic segment, where the hydrophilic segment is soluble in an aqueous environment and the hydrophobic segment is insoluble in the aqueous environment. The polymer-attached pigment may be dispersed in an ink vehicle to provide a low viscosity inkjet ink. The inkjet ink may optionally include at least one binder formed from a hydrophobic segment and two hydrophilic segments. A method of producing a printed image having good durability and gloss is also disclosed.

Abstract:
Ink formulations, ink jet sets, methods of stabilizing an ink formulation, printer systems, and methods thereof, are disclosed. One exemplary ink formulation, among others, includes a pigment and a borate buffer. The ink formulation has an ink stability characteristic of a pH drift of less than 1.0 pH over a one year time period. The ink formulation has a size stability characteristic of a diameter of the pigment increasing less than 20% over a one year time period.
