摘要: A liquid ejection apparatus has a liquid cartridge including a liquid container that has a flexible portion and stores liquid therein and a pressure chamber for applying pressure to the flexible portion of the liquid container; a liquid ejection head for ejecting liquid; a liquid flow path for guiding liquid from the liquid container to the liquid ejection head; a pressure pump for generating pressurized air; and an air flow path for guiding the pressurized air to the pressure chamber. The pressure pump includes an air chamber that communicates with the air flow path and a pressing member for pressing the air chamber so as to decrease the capacity of the air chamber. The capacity of the air chamber is decreased by the pressing member so as to increase the pressure in the air chamber to an upper limit value of a liquid supply pressure range where a prescribed liquid ejection characteristic is obtained, before a liquid ejecting operation is performed on an ejection target member. A continuous liquid ejecting operation is performed on an ejection target member having a maximum size for the liquid ejection apparatus in a state that the capacity of the air chamber is fixed.

摘要: A printer has a carriage on which a recording head and pumps are mounted. An air supply device and ink cartridges are provided in a frame of the printer. The pumps are connected to the air supply device with an air supply tube. Each pump is connected to corresponding one of the ink cartridges with an ink supply tube. Based on actuation of a drive mechanism of the air supply device, air is supplied from the air supply device to the pumps. Based on changes in the pressure of the air, each pump draws ink from the corresponding ink cartridge and supplies the ink to the recording head. This permits the carriage to reciprocate in a reliable manner.

摘要: A liquid supplying member supplies liquid from a liquid container to a liquid ejection head which are provided in a liquid ejection apparatus. In the liquid supplying member, a flexible base member has a face formed with at least one groove. A flexible first plate member is joined to the face of the base member so as to seal at least a part of the at least one groove to form at least one liquid supplying passage, through which the liquid is supplied from the liquid container to the liquid ejection head. A first connector is monolithically formed with a longitudinal end portion of the base member to connect the at least one groove to one of the liquid container and the liquid ejection head.

摘要: A liquid collection unit (33) is placed on a movement path of a liquid jet head mounted on a carriage. An opening portion (40) for receiving liquid, which are jetted from a liquid jet head, by performing a flushing operation is formed in the movement path of the liquid jet head. Liquid mist generated by performing a flushing operation is sucked by a fan (55) having blades (55b), and then caught and collected by the centrifugation action of a rotor portion (47) having a large number of flat fins (47b) on the internal surface of a cylindrical body (47a). A filter member (59) is disposed at an air outlet (58), from which air is caused by a fan (55) to flow out. A small amount of liquid mist, which is not collected by the roller part (47), is effectively collected by this filter member (59).

摘要: The recording device of an ink jet type comprises a drive voltage generation circuit which, in synchronization with a timing signal given from outside, generates a first drive voltage having a trapezoidal wave form, a drive circuit which outputs a first drive voltage to a piezo-vibrator in accordance with a printing signal given from outside and also, in synchronization with the timing signal, outputs a second drive voltage, which is used to generate such a small pulse that cannot jet out ink drops from a nozzle opening, to the piezo-vibrator in which a non-printing condition has continued for one or more cycles, and control means which stops the application of the small pulse when the time of application of the small pulse after completion of a printing operation exceeds a given time. When the ink drops have not been jetted out for one or more cycles, the small pulse is applied to thereby vibrate menisci in the neighborhood of the nozzle opening, in order to prevent the nozzle opening from being clogged up without causing any ink mist. At the same time, at the time when the printing operation is interrupted and the application of the small pulse continues for a given time or longer, the application of the small pulse is stopped to thereby prevent an unnecessary increase in the viscosity of the ink in the nozzle opening which can occur due to the slight vibrations of the menisci.

摘要: With an ink jet recording head (8) comprising two common ink chambers (26) and (27) communicating with both sides of a pressure generation chamber (24) and ink supply ports (30) and (31) where ink flows into the common ink chambers (26) and (27) from the outside, one ink supply port (30) is connected to a subtank (10) and the other ink supply port (31) is connected to an ink cartridge (6). The subtank (10) is replenished with ink through the ink jet recording head (8). Since ink reversely flows into the ink cartridge (6) via the recording head (8) from the subtank (10) due to the head difference, ink in the recording head (8) can be forcibly circulated without complicating a flow passage configuration.

摘要: Data is printed on a recording sheet by heating the recording sheet at a pre-printing heating region of a heat roller 20, and the recording sheet is further heated at a post-printing heating and fusing region to thereby be dried and fused. In the meantime, air introduced from an exhaust fan 50 is blown into a data writing section from bottom up in the same direction as a recording sheet feeding direction, so that not only the vapor generated from the recording sheet during the heating and the vapor generated from the ink during the printing are eliminated, but also a recording head 40 is cooled.

摘要: A fluid ejecting apparatus includes: a fluid ejecting unit that ejects a colored fluid and a colorless fluid toward a fluid ejection target medium; an irradiating unit that irradiates ultraviolet rays onto a fluid that lies on or over the fluid ejection target medium so as to cure the fluid; and a controlling unit that controls the fluid ejecting operation of the fluid ejecting unit and the ultraviolet ray irradiating operation of the irradiating unit. The controlling unit performs control so that the colorless fluid is ejected on an image that is made of the colored fluid that landed on the fluid ejection target medium. After the start of the agglomeration of the colorless fluid that landed on the image, the controlling unit performs control so that ultraviolet rays are irradiated onto the colorless fluid.
