    摘要: Protection apparatus includes: a seat back pivotable between reclined and upright positions; a pivoting-angle adjustment section for adjusting the pivoting angle of the seat back through a motor; a prediction section for predicting an object likely to collide against the vehicle from behind; a control section for controlling the adjustment section, in accordance with a prediction signal generated by the prediction section, to cause the seat back to be pivoted to a practically vertical upright position. The control section is arranged to control the adjustment section in accordance with not only the prediction signal but also an operation signal from a manual seat operating section. When the prediction signal has been received, the control section controls the adjustment section to cause the seat back to be pivoted to the practically vertical upright position at higher speed than when the operation signal has been received.

    摘要: In an automotive vehicle occupant protection system, the vehicle body comprises a chassis and a vehicle body main part mounted on said chassis in a relatively moveable manner in a fore-and-aft direction, and an arrangement for engaging a vehicle body main part to the chassis under normal condition, and releasing the vehicle body main part from the chassis upon occurrence of a vehicle crash, and a bumper member provided on the chassis and adapted to collide with a stopper member provided on the vehicle body main part after a prescribed rearward travel of the chassis relative to the vehicle body main part. Thus, upon occurrence of a crash, the chassis having a substantial mass starts decelerating, and moves rearward with respect to the remaining part of the vehicle body. This in turn causes the tension of the seat belt to increase, and the restraint on the vehicle occupant to increase. This is followed by the application of a reverse deceleration to the chassis so that the initial sharp rise in the deceleration acting on the vehicle occupant is smoothly connected to the ride down state in which the vehicle occupant decelerates at the same rate as the vehicle body.

    摘要: Provided is a seat belt pretensioner device for a seat belt having a plurality of anchor points attached to different parts of a vehicle body which includes a G control vehicle body member which deforms in a different pattern from a remaining part of the vehicle body at the time of a vehicle crash. One of the anchor points, which typically consists of a seat belt buckle, is attached to the G control vehicle body member via a force transmitting member such as a cable member which is adapted to move the anchor point in a direction to increase a tension of the seat belt at the time of a vehicle crash. A seat belt pretensioner device can be thus achieved in a simple manner without requiring any special power actuator.

    摘要: In an automotive vehicle body structure including a crash load transmitting member extending from a front end of the vehicle body to a part adjacent to the floor member, and integrally carrying a seat thereon, a stopper is fixedly attached to the main frame, and adapted to abut a part of the crash load transmitting member upon a rearward movement of the crash load transmitting member by a prescribed distance. A guide member normally retains the crash load transmitting member firmly to the vehicle body main frame as a part of the vehicle body, but allows the crash load transmitting member to move rearward, and hit the stopper so that the desired deceleration time history may be achieved in the crash load transmitting member which is integral with the seat, and the deceleration of the vehicle occupant may be favorably controlled.

    摘要: The occupant protective apparatus includes one or more seats 1 respectively supported on a car body so as to be movable along the direction of a force acting on the car body in the case of a car collision and each including a seat belt 3 for restricting an occupant 2 seated on the seat 1, a fluid container 14, the capacity of which can be reduced as the car body is deformed in the car collision, and a force generating unit 5 for applying a force to the seat 1 in the back-and-forth direction of the car body in response to generation of the pressure of fluid filled in the fluid container, such pressure generation occurring when the capacity of the fluid container is reduced. According to the present occupant protective apparatus, for example, in case where a forward running car collides head on with a structure on the road, the fluid container disposed in the front end portion of the car body is compressed and the fluid filled in the fluid container is thereby charged into the force generating unit such as a liquid pressure cylinder. Due to this, backward going acceleration is applied to the seat at the same time with the occurrence of the car head-on collision to thereby generate in the seat higher deceleration than the deceleration of the car body, which makes it possible to enhance the restricting force of the seat belt for restricting the forward movement of the occupant.

Thus, the vehicle body demonstrates a high reaction load during an early phase of a vehicle crash, and a low reaction load during a final phase of the crash so that peak acceleration of the vehicle occupant who is restrained by a seat belt involving a certain amount of resiliency can be minimized.

Thus, the seat belt tightening system may be safely incorporated with the vehicle seat as a subassembly for improved efficiency of the assembling process, and the inadvertent activation of the system is positively prevented. In particular, when an explosive element is used as a part of the seat belt tightening system, it can be place conveniently inside the seat cushion of the vehicle seat without unduly complicating the assembly process for the seat belt tightening system.
