Abstract:
Generating and using a device-type specific preferred public land mobile network (PLMN) list for roaming PLMN selection. Wireless devices sharing one or more common characteristics may be tasked with collecting roaming PLMN selection data. That data may be collected and used to generate a preferred PLMN list specific to wireless devices sharing those common characteristics. The preferred PLMN list may be distributed to wireless devices sharing those common characteristics, which may then use it in conjunction with roaming PLMN selection.
Abstract:
A method to be performed by a wireless station having a wireless transceiver configured to establish a connection to a network, a processor and a non-transitory computer readable storage medium. The method includes receiving information during a first reception segment of a discontinuous reception cycle, wherein the discontinuous reception cycle includes the first reception segment and a first idle segment, performing a first measurement that begins during the first reception segment and performing a second measurement, wherein the second measurement begins prior to an end of the first measurement.
Abstract:
In a wireless communication system, a user equipment device (UE) may undertake a circuit-switched fallback (CSFB) process by using or more secondary radio frequency (RF) receive chains to search for candidate circuit-switched (CS) cells, in parallel with using a primary RF receive chain to wait for an extended service request (ESR) response. The UE may send, using a first RF receive chain, an ESR message on a packet-switched (PS) network in response to receiving a CS voice call page on the PS network. The UE may also start an ESR timer upon sending the ESR message, and monitor, using the first RF receive chain, for receipt of an ESR response on the PS network. While monitoring for receipt of the ESR response, the UE may use a second RF receive chain to acquire an initial CS network, and detect whether the ESR timer expires before the ESR response is received.
Abstract:
In a wireless communication system, a user equipment (UE) needing to undertake a CSFB process can use one or more secondary RF receive chains to search for candidate 2G/3G cells in parallel with using a primary RF receive chain to wait for an ESR response.
Abstract:
A method for determining whether to allow performance of an inter-radio access technology (IRAT) transition is provided. The method can include a wireless communication device determining a realized quality of service (QoS) for packet switched data traffic on a first radio access technology (RAT); determining whether the realized QoS satisfies a threshold QoS; suspending IRAT transition to a second RAT in an instance in which it is determined that the realized QoS satisfies the threshold QoS; and allowing IRAT transition to the second RAT in an instance in which it is determined that the realized QoS does not satisfy the threshold QoS.
