Generating and using a device-type specific preferred public land mobile network (PLMN) list for roaming PLMN selection. Wireless devices sharing one or more common characteristics may be tasked with collecting roaming PLMN selection data. That data may be collected and used to generate a preferred PLMN list specific to wireless devices sharing those common characteristics. The preferred PLMN list may be distributed to wireless devices sharing those common characteristics, which may then use it in conjunction with roaming PLMN selection.

Described herein are apparatus, systems and methods for enhanced PLMN selection using priority class information. A method may comprise, at a user equipment (“UE”), identifying a plurality of networks, each network having an assigned priority class indicator, identifying a first network of the plurality of networks as having a first priority class indicator, identifying a second network of the plurality of networks as having the first priority class indicator, identifying the first priority class indicator as the highest priority class of the assigned priority class indicators, and selecting between the first network and the second network based a quality characteristic.
Abstract:
Apparatuses, systems, and methods for user equipment (UE) devices to determine that it does not have cellular service and perform one or more searches for a mobile country code (MCC). The searches may include searches based on cellular modes, radio access technologies (RATs), and/or cellular bands. The UE may determine the MCC based on results of the one or more searches and perform a targeted service acquisition search based on, and limited by, the MCC. The MCC may be associated with one or more cellular modes, RATs, and/or cellular bands via a data structure that maps the MCC to the one or more cellular modes, RATs, and/or cellular bands. The targeted service acquisition search may include at least one RAT and one or more cellular bands within the at least one RAT associated with the MCC.

Targeted public land mobile network (PLMN) search by a wireless user equipment (UE) device. A PLMN search may be initiated at the UE. It may be determined whether PLMN search targeting information is available. A targeted PLMN search may be performed if PLMN search targeting information is available. Targeting the PLMN search may include reducing the number of frequencies or frequency bands searched as part of the PLMN search.

A processor in a mobile wireless device communicates detailed state information about attachments to a user identity module card embedded in the mobile wireless device. The processor detects a change in an attach state of the mobile wireless device for at least one of a plurality of attachment types. The processor determines the attach state of the mobile wireless device for each of the plurality of attachment types and sends a status message to the user identity module card indicating the determined attach states. The plurality of attachment types can include at least a circuit switched attachment and a packet switched attachment. The processor can wait until completion of circuit switched and packet switched attachments of the mobile wireless device to the wireless network prior to sending the status message.
