Abstract: A printer includes: a head holder supporting a thermal head; a platen holder supporting a platen roller that presses a printing medium toward the thermal head; an engagement member movably supported by one of the platen holder and the platen roller and engageable with and removable from the head holder; and a moving mechanism configured to move the platen holder and the engagement member and configured to move the engagement member from a disengaged position at which the engagement member is separated from and not engaged with the head holder, to an engaged position at which the engagement member is located at and engaged with the head holder, in conjunction with moving the platen holder from a separated position at which the platen roller is separated from the head holder, to a pressing position at which the platen roller presses the printing medium against the thermal head.

Abstract: An image reading device includes a tray unit, a recording unit disposed above the tray unit, an outer guide defining a curved path extending from the tray unit to the recording unit, a sheet feeder configured to feed a sheet from the tray unit to the curved path, and a return guide disposed between the recording unit and the tray unit. The return guide pivots about a shaft and guides the sheet having an image recorded thereon back to the curved path. The tray unit includes at least one supporting portion. The return guide includes at least one supported portion. The at least one supporting portion of the tray unit engages the at least one supported portion of the return guide such that the return guide takes a guiding position in which the return guide defines a return path extending to the curved path.

Abstract: A slider moving in a sliding direction between first and second positions shifts a second path-defining member, relative to a first path-defining member, between first and second states. A pair of movable members each disposed on a corresponding side of a slider in a width direction is movable individually in the sliding direction to shift between third and fourth states. The movable members, when both in the third state, position the slider to the first position and, when both in the fourth state, position the slider to the second position. Abstract: There is provided an image recording apparatus including: a main body with first and second transporting paths, a transporting roller pair, a recording portion, a reversal roller pair, a re-transporting roller pair, a transporting motor, first and second transmission mechanisms, and a controller. The second transmission mechanism has: a sun gear, an arm, a pendulum gear, and a gear row. The second transmission mechanism is configured to change a posture between a first posture and a second posture. The controller is configured to determine a position of the sheet, determine a size of the sheet, switch the rotation of the transporting motor under certain conditions, and increase the rotation amount of the transporting motor more for the case that the size of the sheet is determined to be not less than a transport distance than for the case that it is determined to be less than the transport distance.

Abstract: A tape cassette used for a printer includes a thermal head and a cassette holder to which the tape cassette is attachable. The tape cassette includes a tape roll, a casing, a regulation guide and a pressure member. The tape roll is formed by winding a tape. The tape has a width defining a widthwise direction. The casing accommodates therein the tape roll. A tape conveying passage is defined in the casing. Abstract: A cutting device includes: a cutter blade configured to perform one of a half-cutting operation and a full-cutting operation with respect to a cut target; a cutter holder holding the cutter blade; a cutter cradle movable between a half-cutting position and a full-cutting position; and a cutter lever and a cutter cradle lever those operated by a user. When only the cutter lever is operated by the user, the cutter blade is moved so that the cutter blade and the cutter cradle at the half-cutting position perform the half-cutting operation with respect to the cut target. When both the cutter lever and the cutter cradle lever are operated by the user, the cutter cradle is moved to the full-cutting position and the cutter blade is moved so that the cutter blade and the cutter cradle at the full-cutting position perform the full-cutting operation with respect to the cut target.
