摘要: A device, method, and system of deploying an embolic protection device at a location distal to a treatment site in a vessel of a patient. A delivery catheter is encircled by a sealing member which is expandable from a delivery configuration to a deployed configuration. The device creates a seal to prevent the flow of blood during the treatment of vascular disease. A distal protection element is delivered by the delivery catheter and deployed to filter or remove embolic debris.

摘要: The present invention provides a septal defect closure device (10) having a first occluding disk (30) having a first flexible membrane (32) attached to a first frame (34) and a second occluding disk (20) having a second flexible membrane (22) attached to a separate second frame (24). The first frame has at least two outwardly extending loops joined to one another by flexible joints. These loops are attached to the first membrane to define taut fabric petals when the first disk is in a deployed configuration. A central portion of the first membrane is joined to the central portion of the second membrane via a joining segment, which may comprise a conjoint disk. The flexible joints of the first frame are received within the joining segment. This septal defect closure device provides enhanced retrievability.

摘要: A combination dilatation and drug delivery device includes a flexible catheter, a drug delivery sheath mounted to a distal end region of the catheter and a dilatation balloon also mounted to the catheter and contained within a compartment formed by the sheath. The sheath is radially expandable by supplying a liquid therapeutic agent to the compartment under a moderate pressure. The dilatation balloon is expandable by providing a dilatation fluid to the balloon under a much higher pressure. The sheath can be formed of a highly elastic material or can be made quite thin, and in either case is mounted independently of the dilatation balloon. Thus when radially expanded, the sheath is moved into a conforming contact with surrounding vascular tissue. The conforming contact protects tissue and the therapeutic agent from exposure to blood, and more effectively confines the therapeutic agent to the intended treatment area. The sheath either is naturally porous or is provided with multiple pores, whereby the therapeutic agent perfuses through the sheath into the surrounding tissue.

摘要: A stent delivery assembly is provided that includes a microcatheter, a delivery tube, a stent, and an elongate release member. The stent can have a first end that is (i) disposed within a delivery tube lumen and (ii) constrained by the delivery tube from radially expanding beyond a delivery tube lumen diameter. The stent can have a second end that is (i) disposed outside of a delivery tube distal end and (ii) substantially radially unconstrained by the delivery tube to expand beyond the delivery tube lumen diameter. The elongate release member can be moveable between first and second positions to engage or release the stent.

摘要: A delivery device includes a delivery tube having an elongate release member. An everted stent may be releasably captured by the elongate release member between the release member and the delivery tube. The captured and everted stent can be distally advanced to a target site, followed by manipulating the release member to free the captured stent. Some devices utilize distal advancement of the release member while other devices use proximal retraction of the release member to free the captured stent. Once released, the stent is free to self-expand or be expanded against the surrounding blockage and/or vessel walls. In some methods, a guide catheter or microcatheter is also included and disposed about the everted and captured stent to advance the stent, delivery tube, and release member to a location near the site to be stented.

摘要: The present invention provides a method of deploying a medical filter within a channel in a patient's body and filter systems which can be used in such a method. Such a filter may include a radially expandable body 52 having an opening 56 in a proximal length thereof. In one method, the filter is urged along a length of the channel with the filter body in a radially reduced configuration. This body is expanded to substantially fill the lumen of the vessel and orient the opening in the body proximally. Body fluid is permitted to enter the filter body through the proximally oriented opening and pass distally through the distal length of the body so that the distal length of the body filters from the body fluid particulate material entrained therein. The proximal length of the body can be drawn into the retrieval catheter, thereby effectively closing the proximally oriented opening within the catheter to retain the particulate material within the enclosure. In a preferred embodiment, the filter body 52 is formed of a porous, resilient fabric having pores therein and the proximal opening 56 is at least five times the size of such pores.
