Abstract: Systems and methods for managing traffic in a hybrid environment include monitoring traffic load of a local network to determine whether the traffic load exceeds or is likely to exceed a maximum traffic load, where the maximum traffic load is a traffic load for which a service can be provided by the local network, based on a license. An excess traffic load is determined if the traffic load exceeds or is likely to exceed the maximum traffic load. One or more external networks which have a capacity to provide the service to the excess traffic load are determined, to which the excess traffic load is migrated. The local network includes one or more service instances for providing the service for up to the maximum traffic load, and the service to the excess traffic load is provided by one or more additional service instances in the one or more external networks.

Abstract: A method for allocating resources of a virtual controller is disclosed. The method comprises: allocating resources of a virtual controller to a first tenant, wherein the first tenant is allocated a first tenant quantity of guaranteed resources of the virtual controller and a second tenant is allocated a second tenant quantity of guaranteed resources of the virtual controller; determining that resources requested by the first tenant are greater than the first tenant quantity of guaranteed resources; determining that the virtual controller has unutilized resources sufficient to at least partially provide additional resources beyond the first tenant quantity of guaranteed resources to the first tenant; and temporarily provisioning the additional resources to the first tenant, wherein the additional resources are greater than the first tenant quantity of guaranteed resources.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for creating service chains for inter-cloud traffic. In some examples, a system receives domain name system (DNS) queries associated with cloud domains and collects DNS information associated the cloud domains. The system spoofs DNS entries defining a subset of IPs for each cloud domain. Based on the spoofed DNS entries, the system creates IP-to-domain mappings associating each cloud domain with a respective IP from the subset of IPs. Based on the IP-to-domain mappings, the system programs different service chains for traffic between a private network and respective cloud domains. The system routes, through the respective service chain, traffic having a source associated with the private network and a destination matching the IP in the respective IP-to-domain mapping.

Abstract: A method is described and in some embodiments includes receiving at a network element a transmission control protocol (“TCP”) packet with TCP options set on a link between a controller and a destination node; if the network element comprises a transit node, comparing a bandwidth value indicated in a TCP options field of the received TCP packet with an outgoing link bandwidth of the network element; if the bandwidth value indicated in the TCP options field is greater than the outgoing link bandwidth of the network element, updating the bandwidth value indicated in the TCP options field to be equal to the outgoing link bandwidth of the network element; and forwarding the TCP packet to a next network element. If the bandwidth value indicated in the TCP options field is not greater than the outgoing link bandwidth, the bandwidth value indicated in the TCP options field is not changed.

Abstract: A process can include determining affinity information indicative of route preferences between branch routers and gateway routers. A prefix can be determined for a subnet of branch routers located at a same branch location. An affinity position of a first gateway router can be determined based on affinity information of the branch routers in the subnet. A mapping can be determined between a local preference Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) community attribute and the affinity position of the first gateway router, wherein a mapped local preference BGP community attribute and the affinity position are indicative of a same routing preference. The mapped local preference BGP community attribute can be attached to routes from the first gateway router into a cloud service provider. Affinity-based route preferences are indicated to the cloud service provider by redistributing the routes from the first gateway router with the mapped local preference BGP community attribute attached.
