Abstract:
A plurality of propellant cartridges are serially connected with each other to form a band that may be rolled up for utilization in a commercial device, such as a riveting gun. The cartridges may be attached to a band by extending their electrical leads through the band for clamping the cartridges to the band, bonding the cartridges to the band, or providing the cartridges with a force fit in recesses of the band, for example. Also, propellant carrying cases may be formed in pairs for serial connection with primer carrying bases formed in pairs. Also, preformed lengths of cartridge-carrying bands may be connected serially with each other by means of connectors.
Abstract:
Heating and temperature maintenance device including a hollow body portion containing a core housing, a material to be heated, a first chamber disposed about the core containing a first pyrotechnic composition capable, upon ignition, of rapidly heating the material to a desired temperature, a meltable metal or alloy disposed about the first chamber capable of being melted by the ignition of the first pyrotechnic composition, and a second chamber, disposed between the body periphery and the metal or alloy, containing a second pyrotechnic composition having, upon ignition, a slower burning rate than the first pyrotechnic composition and capable of maintaining the metal or alloy in a molten condition for a predetermined time.
