    摘要: An occupant restraint apparatus includes an airbag that inflates toward the front of an occupant and an inflatable seatbelt having at least an inflatable shoulder belt section. The shoulder belt is fastened on the front side of the occupant's upper body. The airbag includes a right airbag section and a left airbag section that inflate toward the right front and the left front, respectively, of the occupant. When the airbag and the shoulder belt section are both inflated and the airbag receives the occupant, the inflated shoulder belt section enters a hollow space provided between the ends of the right airbag section and the left airbag section. Thus, the apparatus prevents or suppresses discharge of gas from the airbag caused when the inflated shoulder belt section pushes the airbag inward before the airbag receives the occupant.

    摘要: An air bag inflator is divided into first and second gas chambers. The inflator starts to discharge gas by breaking a seal of the first gas chamber. As the pressure difference between the first gas chamber and the second gas chamber is increased, a disk closure situated between the first and second gas chambers is torn, so that gas is discharged also from the second gas chamber. The air bag inflator can be manufactured at a low cost and enables the air bag to be held in the deployed state for a relatively long period of time.

    摘要: An inflator is formed of a cylindrical casing filled with propellant, booster filled in a tube, and auto ignition material situated inside the tube. An electrical ingitor is disposed in the casing. First gas outlet holes are disposed on the front surface of the casing and second gas outlet holes are disposed on the rear surface of the casing. The first gas outlet holes are covered by a first film member and the second gas outlet holes are covered by a second film member. As the booster is ignited by the electrical ignitor, a gas pressure of 20.about.25 MPa is applied to break only the first film member. In fire, a gas pressure of 30.about.35 MPa is applied to break both of the first and second film members.

    摘要: An air bag device for use in a passenger's seat is formed of a retaining box having an opening disposed at the front face for expanding an air bag and air intake ports disposed on the lateral side for intaking air, seat-like valves disposed in the retaining box, the valves being capable of covering the lateral sides thereby closing the air intake ports and moving from the lateral side thereby opening the air intake ports, a gas generator disposed to the deep inside of the retaining box, and a lid for covering the opening of said retaining box. The valves are made of such a material as melting at a temperature lower than the igniting temperature of the gas generator.
