    摘要: Removing silicon species from hydrocarbon solvents such as cyclohexane. The process comprises contacting the hydrocarbon solvent with sulfuric acid in an amount sufficient to phase separate the silicon species and removing at least 20% by weight of the residual silicon species from the hydrocarbon solvent. The hydrocarbon solvent may be a polymerization solvent containing residual silicon species, and more than 80% by weight of the silicon species can be removed.

    摘要: The present invention is a coupled radial anionic polymer comprising a polyhedral oligosilsesquioxane [POSS] of the formula [R—SiO3/2]n. POSS compounds having R=vinyl, glycidyldimethyl silyl, and isobutyl have been found effective in coupling anionic living polymers to yield radial polymers having 2 to 10 arms. Radial polymers of the present invention have been formed using POSS octamers and mixtures of POSS octamers, decamers and dodecamers. The present invention also relates to a process for coupling living anionic polymers with POSS compounds.

    摘要: The capping of anionic polymers to make functionalized polymers is used to make heterotelechelic polymers by using a protected functional initiator to polymerize a polymer comprising a conjugated diene and then capping the polymer with low surface energy fluorocarbons. The protected functional groups are stable under a variety of conditions and then readily convert to more reactive terminal functional groups useful for making sealants, coatings, molded or extruded goods and fibers having low surface energy.

    摘要: A laminating adhesive comprising an adhesive composition which comprises(a) An epoxidized block copolymer of the formula(A-B-A.sub.p).sub.n -Y.sub.r -(A.sub.q -B).sub.mwherein Y is a coupling agent or coupling monomers, andwherein A and B are polymer blocks which may be homopolymer blocks of conjugated diolefin monomers, copolymer blocks of conjugated diolefin monomers or copolymer blocks of conjugated diolefin monomers and monoalkenyl aromatic hydrocarbon monomers, andwherein the A blocks have a higher number of aliphatic double bonds between a tertiary carbon atom and either a primary, secondary, or tertiary carbon atom per unit of block mass than do the B blocks, andwherein the A blocks have a molecular weight from about 100 to about 3000 and the B blocks have a molecular weight from about 1000 to about 15,000, and wherein p and q are 0 or 1 and n>0, r is 0 or 1, m.gtoreq.0 and n+m ranges from 1 to 100; and(b) at least a significant amount of a tackifying resin compatible with the polymer of (a) up to 400 phr.The invention also relates to a laminate containing the adhesive.
