Abstract: Medium handling apparatuses and methods of media handling, both for use in printing devices, are disclosed herein. An example of a medium handling apparatus includes a first transport roller to convey a medium and a first drive mechanism to rotate the first transport roller at a first rate. This example of the medium handling apparatus additionally includes a second transport roller to convey the medium and a second drive mechanism to rotate the second transport roller at a second rate. This example of the medium handling apparatus further includes a coupling assembly to disengage the second transport roller from the second drive mechanism to allow the medium to rotate the second transport roller at the first rate.

Abstract: A connection arrangement is between first and second members pivoted together between open and lockable positions. The first member has a first connector and the second member has a second connector, said connectors being adapted to connect by linear movement between them. The first member has a user-actuatable handle adapted, when the first and second members are in said lockable position: during a first movement of the handle, to engage a latch member of the first member with a catch on the second member; and, during a second movement, to move the first and second connectors with respect to one another in a first linear direction between a disengaged and an engaged position of the connectors. A block element on the first member is arranged to prevent said first and second movements of the handle when said first and second members are not in said lockable position. A block-unlock element on the second member is arranged to displace the block element to enable said first and second movements of the handle when the first and second members are moved from said open position to said lockable position.

Abstract: An inkjet printer has a print bar system comprising a print bar and a plurality of selectively replaceable print heads attached to the print bar. The system comprises a receptor on the bar, for installation of a print head, each print head having a rear face for insertion in said receptor in a first direction. A latch is provided, pivoted on the bar. The latch has a user-actuatable handle adapted, during a first movement thereof, to engage a latch member of the latch with a catch on the bar to lock the latch in a lockable position on the bar. A platform is mounted on the latch with freedom to move with respect to the latch in said first direction when the latch is in said lockable position. The platform has a latch electrical connector, adapted to engage a head electrical connector on the print head, by mutual movement of the connectors in said first direction. A bias means urges the platform in said first direction. A second movement of the handle releases the platform for movement relative to the latch under the action of the bias means. When the latch is in the lockable position, and the print head is installed in the receptor, the first movement of the handle locks the latch in the lockable position and the second movement of the handle releases the platform so that the bias means presses the platform in said first direction to engage said electrical connectors and urge the print head into secure engagement with the receptor.

Abstract: A spittoon system for a printing mechanism includes a reservoir elongated in a longitudinal direction and having a bottom part. The reservoir receives printing fluid residue spit from a print-head onto a first zone of the reservoir. The spittoon system further includes a cleaning element arranged inside the reservoir to transfer, by sliding along the longitudinal direction of the reservoir, the received printing fluid residue from the first zone to a second zone. The second zone includes a drain outlet to drain the printing fluid residue from the reservoir.

Abstract: A handoff mechanism for use with a media stacker of a media production apparatus comprises a plurality of kicker units (101) arranged across a width of the handoff mechanism. A common drive mechanism (103) is provided to move the plurality of kicker units (101) between a closed position and an open position. Each kicker unit (101), when in the closed position during use, applies a pressure to any media sheets that are already stacked in a stacker tray (105) while a new media sheet is being fed to the stacker tray. The pressure provided by each kicker unit (101) is independent of the pressure provided by the other kicker units.
