Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are described for configuring a downlink (DL) reference signal (RS) for an electronic device (ED). Configuration information associated with the DL RS is received in a first communication from a location management function (LMF) via LTE positioning protocol (LPP). In a communication from a serving cell via radio resource control (RRC), an identifier (ID) of the DL RS and a cell ID of a cell that originates the DL RS are received. The configuration information received in the first communication also includes the ID of the DL RS and the cell ID. A sounding reference signal (SRS) is transmitted to the cell identified by the cell ID, according to path loss (PL) information or spatial domain transmission filter (TF) information associated with the DL RS.

Abstract: Methods and devices for assigning sounding reference signals (SRS) resources to UEs in a wireless communication network are provided. Configuration information is sent to a UE, the configuration information pertaining to a first sequence identifier (ID) to be used by the UE to generate a plurality of SRS sequences to be sent by the UE as at least part of a first SRS. Each SRS sequence of the plurality of SRS sequences is a function of a respective SRS sequence root that is a function of the first sequence ID. The first sequence ID may be a UE-specific sequence ID that is a function of a UE-specific ID associated with the UE, such as a Cell-Radio Network Temporary Identifier (C-RNTI).

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention describe a novel solution to enhance network service to devices with limited or no connectivity. Embodiments include network-aware nodes deployed by an end-user or operator which are configured by a network to achieve enhanced coverage, enhanced throughput, enhanced battery life, and mitigation of cell boundary experiences, etc. Embodiments provide these benefits to a specified or non-specified set of user equipment (e.g., neighboring user equipment). The service expansion terminal can be an available user equipment that is idle and that has been volunteered, assigned, or is a dedicated node with limited user interface and designed for carrying out enhanced coverage, enhanced throughput, enhanced battery life, and the mitigation of cell boundary experiences, etc. Embodiments may therefore provide low-cost, flexible deployment, and mobility thereby enabling boundaryless service.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method for adaptive transmission time intervals (TTIs) includes transmitting, by a communications controller to a user equipment (UE), a segment of a first TDD TTI configuration of a first TDD interval and a second TDD TTI configuration of the first TDD interval, where the first TDD TTI configuration has a first pattern, where the second TDD TTI configuration has a second pattern, where the first pattern is different than the second pattern, where the first TDD TTI configuration has a first uplink TTI segment and a first downlink TTI segment. The method also includes transmitting a first plurality of data on a first TTI in the first downlink TTI segment of the first TDD TTI configurations of the first TDD interval and receiving a second plurality of data on the first uplink segment of the first TDD TTI configuration of the first TDD interval.
