摘要： An exemplary method for conserving power of a portable communication device includes supplying voltage by a power supply of the portable communication device; distributing one or more corresponding voltages to other components; the portable communication device entering a normal mode and enabling user-selected prompts after being powered by one of said voltages; generating digital voltage signals corresponding to the voltage supplied by the power supply; detecting a voltage of the digital voltage signals to obtain a detected voltage; comparing the detected voltage with a predetermined value; changing a current mode of the portable communication device from the normal mode to a power conserving mode, if the detected voltage is equal to or less than the predetermined value and the current mode is the normal mode; and disabling a pickup button of the portable communication device. Thereby, an operational time of other units of the portable communication device can be prolonged.

摘要： An input device capable of locking a computer system is provided. The input device has an interface, a pressure sensor, and a microcontroller. The interface is for communicating with the computer system. The pressure sensor is for generating pressure sensing signals if pressed. The microcontroller is configured for scanning occurrence of the pressure sensing signals in real time, and generating and transmitting a lock signal through the interface to signal the computer system to perform a system lock operation if the microcontroller has not detected the pressure sensing signals in a predetermined time period. A related method is also provided.

摘要： An apparatus and method for automatically selecting an audio play mode mainly is provided. The apparatus includes an audio reading unit and a play mode selecting unit. The audio reading unit reads an audio data frame, obtains and recognizes a play mode identifier from a frame header of the audio data frame, and generates an associated play mode control signal according to the recognized play mode identifier. The play mode selecting unit selects a corresponding play mode to output the audio data frame according to the play mode control signal from the audio reading unit. A related method is also provided.

摘要： A password control method used in an input device is provided. The input device has a coordinate output circuit for outputting coordinates corresponding to a movement of the input device and a storage unit for storing information. The method includes the steps of: (a) providing the input device with a plurality of keys for operational inputs, wherein the keys are selected from the group consisting of number keys, letter keys, and a combination of number keys and letter keys; (b) comparing the operational inputs from the keys with a predetermined password; (c) generating an unlock signal if the operational inputs match the predetermined password; and (d) unlocking the locked storage unit according to the unlock signal thereby enabling a computer system to access the storage unit.

The touch-based display method for the display apparatus includes the steps of: providing a display apparatus including a screen and a frame connecting to the screen, the screen having a plurality of menu regions and the frame having a plurality of touch strips each mapped to one of the menu regions; receiving and processing any sensing signal from one of the touch strips; displaying an associated menu in the menu region corresponding to the signaled touch strip; hiding at least one of the menu options displayed in the menu region and replacing at least one of the displayed menu options by another hidden menu option when receiving a plurality of new sensing signals from the signaled touch strip; and performing a function indicated by a selected menu option when receiving a sensing signal from the signaled touch strip.

摘要： An auxiliary input device for menu control on a portable computing device is provided. The auxiliary input device includes a lighting unit, an optical lens, and an optical sensor. The lighting unit is for projecting light to a surface upon which the portable computing device is moved upon. The optical lens is for receiving reflected light from the surface and focusing the reflected light on the optical sensor. The optical sensor is for periodically capturing images of the reflected light and transmitting information of the images captured to the portable computing device. The images captured map a movement of the portable computing device. Accordingly, the portable computing device scrolls through a menu displayed thereon according to the images captured. A related method is also provided.
