摘要: The present invention relates to a starch ester having short- and long-chain acyl groups wherein hydrogens in reactive hydroxyl groups in the same starch molecule have been replaced by C2-4 short-chain acyl groups and C6-18 long-chain acyl groups. The degree of substitution by the short- and long-chain acyl groups are regulated so as to make the starch ester thermo-plasticized and moldable even in the absence of a plasticizer. Accordingly, the starch ester of the present invention can be used as a biodegradable thermoplastic plastic material which can be thermo-plasticized in the absence of a plasticizer.

摘要: A starch derivative which, when incorporated with no or only a little plasticizer, yields moldings having good flexibility, toughness, and water-relating properties for practical use comprises an esterified, polyvinyl ester-grafted starch derivative which is formed by esterifying starch and grafting starch with a polyvinyl ester. The polyvinyl ester is derived from one or more saturated or unsaturated aliphatic acids or aromatic carboxylic acids having 2 to 18 carbon atoms.

摘要: In an image forming apparatus in which toner is fed to a developer unit from a toner storage container through toner conveying means provided between the toner storage container and the developer unit, the image forming apparatus comprises a toner remaining amount detector for detecting not more than a predetermined amount of toner in the toner storage container, a toner density detector for detecting the density of toner in the developer unit, and means for interrupting the image forming operation to feed the toner to the developer unit from the toner storage container through the toner conveying means when the amount of the toner in the toner storage container is larger than the predetermined amount and the density detected by the toner density detector is lower than a predetermined density. Comsequently, suitable measures can be taken when there occurs such a state that no toner exists in the toner conveying means between the toner storage container and the developing mechanism even if the toner exists in the toner storage container.

摘要: Apparatus for adjusting the focus of an optical system comprising an image pickup device providing an image detection plane where the image of an object is focused via the optical system to be adjusted and a circuit for processing the analog video signal provided by the pickup device to control the focus. The circuit comprises a means for forming a time and level shifted version for comparison with the unshifted analog video signal and means for shifting the focus to minimize the length of time during which this comparison exceeds a prescribed threshold level.

摘要: A method and device for magnetically transporting finely divided magnetic particles accumulated or deposited at a space. First a DC magnetic field is exerted to the finely divided magnetic particles so as to magnetize and bring them into an easy-to-be-handled state and then revolving alternating fields are exerted to the magnetized, finely divided magnetic particles, thereby magnetically transporting them.

摘要: An optical scanning device includes: a light projector configured to radiate light while causing the light to make angular movement at a constant speed; and a light reflector configured to reflect the light radiated from the light projector to guide the light to an intended irradiated point on a predetermined scanning line. The light reflector includes a plurality of reflecting portions and reflects, at least twice, the light radiated from the light projector to guide the light to the intended irradiated point. The reflecting portions each include a plurality of reflecting surfaces. A length of an optical path from the light projector to the irradiated point is substantially constant for all of irradiated points on the scanning line, and a scanning speed, on the scanning line, of the light radiated from the light projector is substantially constant.

摘要: An exhaust gas processing device (16) intermittently introduces anode off-gas from a fuel cell (12). The exhaust processing device (16) discharges the anode off-gas after diluting it with dilution gas. The exhaust gas processing device (16) includes a dilution container (25) and a partition plate (28), which divide the interior of the dilution container (25) into a first chamber (26) and a second chamber (27). The partition plate (28) has a clearance (29), which connects the first chamber (26) and the second chamber (27) to each other. The exhaust gas processing device (16) includes a discharge portion (32) provided in the first chamber (26), a dilution gas inlet portion (30) provided in the first chamber (26), and an anode off-gas inlet portion (31) provided in the second chamber (27).
