Abstract: A computer-implemented method, computer program product and prototyping platform creates a design blueprint for a substrate-based microfluidic device. A design and prototyping platform receives at least one blueprint parameter and at least one constraint associated with a proposed substrate-based microfluidic device including a hydrophilic material and arrangement of a pattern of a hydrophobic material. The platform determines an arrangement of a plurality of microfluidic device elements as candidates for implementation of the proposed substrate-based microfluidic device and outputs a design blueprint of the proposed substrate-based microfluidic device.

Abstract: A system for manipulating electric fields within a microscopic fluid channel includes a fluid channel with an inlet and an outlet to support fluid flow, at least one controllable electric field producer that applies a non-uniform and adjustable electric field to one or more regions of the fluid channel, one or more sensors that measure one or more parameters of a fluid flowing through the fluid channel, and a controller with hardware and software components that receives signals from the one or more sensors representative of values of the one or more parameters and, based on the parameter values, drives one or more actuators to adjust the electric field produced by the plurality of electric field producers. A complex fluid including at least two components flows through the fluid channel, where at least one of the at least two components comprises particles controllable by the non-uniform and adjustable electric field.

Abstract: Sensor data is detected from at least one sensor selected and installed for detecting operating conditions of at least one equipment. The sensor data includes an operating condition of at least one equipment. The sensor is selected dependent on indications of a user restriction and a predictive model. A sensor data signal is generated dependent on the sensor data. The sensor data signal is transmitted to a network device for collecting the sensor data and transforming the collected sensor data into a formatted transmission signal having a format for transmission over a network to a network server. The network server receives the formatted transmission signal for performing on-demand service of at least one of analysis, reporting and visualization dependent on the operating condition.

Abstract: A multiplexed lateral flow device includes an impermeable internal reservoir having an opening to receive a sample deposition. A fluid distributor pad is arranged in fluid communication with a lower surface of the internal reservoir. The fluid distributor pad includes a paper based microfluidic element having a pattern of a hydrophobic material to distribute a portion of the sample deposition substantially equally among a plurality of flow paths. Lateral flow assays having a plurality of flow lines are aligned with flow paths of the distributor pad. An impermeable top cover has a first window arranged over the opening of the internal reservoir, and at least a second window arranged over the test results of the lateral flow assays. A housing element houses the reservoir, the distributor pad and lateral flow assays. The housing element includes an impermeable bottom cover and a spacer element arranged between the top and bottom covers and, provides a gap between the lateral flow assays and the impermeable top cover.

Abstract: A method for image capture for colorimetric analysis includes inserting a colorimetric sample into a slot formed in a base of a device. The device includes a lid surrounding and covering the base. The lid includes a central opening, and a plurality of lights are within the lid and surrounding the opening. The method also includes selecting one or more wavelengths and intensities for illuminating the sample within the device, illuminating the sample within the device with the selected one or more wavelengths and intensities by selectively activating one or more of the plurality of lights, adjusting a height of a camera over the sample to focus the sample in the camera, and capturing at least one image of the sample using the camera.
