摘要: A movable connector positioning mechanism and method for preventing unnecessary movement of a movable connector before fitting to a mating connector so that the movable connector can be located and held in a proper position to eliminate misregistration between the movable and mating connectors. The movable connector is mounted to a mounting member having a mounting hole. The mechanism includes a support plate which is integral with a connector housing of the movable connector and includes a retaining portion which projects from one side of the support plate and is adaptable for insertion into a mounting hole. The mechanism further includes a positioning member having a first component on the mounting member and a second component on the support plate, which engage to prevent rotation of the retaining portion about an axis of insertion of the retaining portion so as to locate the connector housing in a predetermined position when the retaining portion is being inserted into the mounting hole. The first component is a hole and the second component is a projection or vice versa. The engagement of the first and second projections is released as the movable connector is being mated with the mating connector.

摘要: A switch box mounting structure is provided that can eliminate erroneous assembling to connectors and reduce assembling time to a connector box. The switch box mounting structure includes: a panel that has a mounting hole; a connector box that is fixed to a back surface of the panel not only with a plurality of connectors attached thereto but also by setting an opening thereof to coincide with the mounting hole; and a switch box that allows a plurality of switches to be attached thereto. Not only the plurality of switches are attached to the connector box collectively through the switch box with the switch box being retained in the mounting hole from the front surface of the panel, but also the switches are engaged with the connectors.

摘要: A low coupling force connector assembly is provided which has a first connector and a second connector. The first connector includes a housing and a cam projection provided on the housing, and the second connector includes a housing and a straight guide groove for guiding the cam projection of the first connector. A guide member accommodates therein the first connector and guides the second connector to the first connector. The guide member has a rib projectiong on a housing wall thereof. Locking means hold the first connector in position in the guide member. A rotary plate with two lever projections is rotatably provided on the second connector. The first and second connectors are coupled together with a low coupling force concurrently with mounting a component on a vehicle instrument panel.

摘要: A main connector (31) which is provided on a car body (37) and is attachable to an insertion-side connector (53) provided on an instrument panel (51). A holding shaft (39b) projects from a car body (37). The main connector (31) includes a movable bracket (35) and a connector body (33) attached to the movable bracket. A holding-shaft insertion hole (35g) is formed in the movable bracket (35) so that the holding shaft (39b) is loosely fitted in the hole. Flexible lock arms (49) are provided on the holding shaft (39b) for temporarily locking the movable bracket (35) on the holding shaft (39b). When the insertion-side connector is fitted to the main connector (31), the movable bracket (35) is separated from the holding shaft (39b), releasing the fixed relationship between the movable bracket (35) and the holding shaft (39b). As a result, no load is exerted on the terminal contact between the insertion-side connector (53) and the main connector (31) due to vibrations of the car body. Therefore, the reliability of the electrical connection is improved.

摘要: A switch box mounting structure which allows easy removal of the switch box from the panel, reduces the length of the wires, improves the work efficiency, prevents the wires from being broken, and reduces the material cost. The switch box mounting structure includes a connector holder (43) having a pair of shaft receiving grooves (59) which are fixedly engaged with a mounting hole of a panel, a connector (45) including a housing having shafts (69) protruded therefrom, and a switch box (48). The connector is coupled to the connector holder (43) with the shafts (69) engaged with the shaft receiving grooves (59) in such a manner that the connector (45) is rotatable about the shafts (69). The switch box (48) is inserted into the connector holder (43) to engage with the connector (45), and has a pair of locking pawls (77) which are locked to the mounting hole (79). The locking pawls (77) protrude from opposite sides of the switch box which face in directions perpendicular to the shafts (69). It is preferable that the switch box mounting structure further include leaf springs (67) which are provided between the connector holder (43) and the connector (45) for urging the connector (45) to a neutral position at which the terminals are perpendicular to the panel (41).
