Abstract:
A method of exerting a uniform force on bristle bundles in a clamp. Holes in a locking plate in a clamp are adjusted such that when the clamp is engaged, a specific force is exerted on the bristle bundles. The adjustment allows the holes to be displaced by different amounts for a given displacement of the locking plate.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for producing brushes. The bristle bundles are loaded into a magazine which includes part of a cavity for an injection mold. The magazine is mated with the remainder of the injection mold and the brush handle injection molded around the bristles. The bristles may be profiled, trimmed, end-rounded, fused, or otherwise processed before the handle is injection molded. In addition, the handle of the brush may be formed in two injection molding steps of two different materials. An apparatus is taught which enables the brush to be produced, optionally ornamented, and packaged on a single machine.
Abstract:
A game projectile of unique contour adapted to be manually thrown in a plurality of trajectories. The combination of elements of the game projectile allows for minimal displacement path of the projectile subsequent to being dynamically impacted by a bat or stick member. The game projectile includes a first hemispherical contoured member which is formed of a resilient composition and is substantially symmetrical about a first vertically directed axis line. The game projectile further includes a second hemispherically contoured member having a radius less than the radius of the first hemispherically contoured member. The second hemispherically contoured member is formed in one piece formation with the first hemispherically contoured member on an external surface thereof in order to provide the pitcher with various gripping mechanisms to control the trajectory of the game projectile. In order to minimize the acceleration forces applied to the game projectile by a stick or bat member, both of the first hemispherically contoured member and the second hemispherically contoured member are formed in the hollow manner in order that great deformation may occur when dynamic impact loading occurs.
Abstract:
An insertion device for an infusion set, the insertion device including a two-part housing and a retainer or a retention means by which the infusion set can be temporarily held on the device, and a driver or a drive means including a pretensionable spring for providing the drive energy for an insertion movement of the infusion set, wherein one of the housing parts can be pivoted relative to the other to engage the infusion set and, after engagement of the infusion set, they can be pivoted again, as a result of which the spring is pretensioned and the insertion device is brought to a ready-to-use state. After the insertion movement has been triggered, the infusion set is separated from the device, such that it can execute the greatest part of the insertion movement free of the retainer.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a method for improving cotton fiber length comprising applying to cotton a composition comprising a mixture of (A) cyclanilide or one of its agriculturally effective salts, (B) mepiquat chloride or one of its agriculturally effective salts, (C) optional additives for plant-protection compositions, and (D) optional adjuvants for plant-protection compositions, and wherein the mixture is applied at an application rate such that the total of components A and B is from about 4 to about 200 g/hectare.
Abstract:
The present invention provides methods and accompanying computer-based systems and computer-executable code stored on a computer-readable medium for constructing a model of a biological network. The invention further provides methods for performing sensitivity analysis on a biological network and for identifying major regulators of species in the network and of the network as a whole. In addition, the invention provides methods for identifying targets of a perturbation such as that resulting from exposure to a compound or an environmental change. The invention further provides methods for identifying phenotypic mediators that contribute to differences in phenotypes of biological systems.

Abstract:
A connector is provided for securing two members together. The connector includes an opening formed in one member and a tab extending from the other member. Either the opening or the tab is tapered for frictional engagement with the other when the members are joined.
Abstract:
A hand-held dispenser (1) for dispensing a multiplicity of unit products (3) having a storage area (100) for storing the unit products, an outlet opening (311) through which the unit products are dispensable from the dispenser, a dispensing mechanism (350) actuable to dispense the unit products through the outlet opening, and a dispensing indicator (400) for indicating the number of unit products left in, or dispensed from, the dispenser. The dispensing indicator is integrated with the dispenser such that it is automatically updated in response to the dispensing of the unit products therefrom.
