摘要： A magnetic disk device, which is provided with a magnetic head slider mounted with a magnetic head and a magnetic disk, and of which the magnetic head slider has the possibility of contacting the magnetic disk at the vicinity of the magnetic head. The magnetic head slider has the size of 1.25 mm or less in length, 1 mm or less in width and 0.3 mm or less in thickness, and the friction force exerted between the magnetic head slider and the magnetic disk is 10 mN or less. The magnetic head comprises four substantially parallel surfaces and the depth from a first surface which is the most adjacent surface to the magnetic disk to a second surface is 10 nm to 50 nm, the depth from the second surface to a third surface is 50 nm to 200 nm, and the depth from the third surface to a fourth surface is 400 nm to 1 &mgr;m.

The magnetic recording and reading device also includes a magnetic head which is mounted on an integrated circuit suspension so that a total inductance is reduced to be not more than 65 nH and has a magnetic core which is not more than 35 &mgr;m of length. A part of the magnetic core being formed by a magnetic film having a resistivity exceeding at least 50 &mgr;&OHgr;cm or by a multilayer film consisting of a magnetic film and an insulating film. A fast R/W-IC having a line width of not more than 0.35 &mgr;m is installed in a position within 2 cm from a rear end of the magnetic head, and the magnetic head is provided with a reading element comprising one of a giant magnetoresistance effect element and a thin film having tunneling-magnetoresistance effect, with an effective track width of not more than 0.9 &mgr;m, and which performs reading of magnetic information at an areal density of not less than 5 Gb/in2.

摘要： Multilayered magnetic films of the invention comprising at least two unit magnetic films each of which has a thickness of from 0.05 to 0.9 .mu.m and includes a plurality of ferromagnetic layers each having a thickness of from 0.01 to 0.2 .mu.m and a 1 nm to 10 nm thick first intermediate layer consisting of a ferromagnetic, nonmagnetic or antiferromagnetic material and provided between adjacent ferromagnetic layers, and a second intermediate layer having a thickness of from 10 to 40 nm, consisting of a nonmagnetic or antiferromagnetic material and provided between the at least two unit magnetic films. The multilayered magnetic film is suitable as a pole of a thin-film magnetic head. An underlayer may be further provided between the magnetic film and a substrate whereby a multilayered magnetic film having good characteristics can be obtained.

摘要： In a magnetic head a single-crystal Mn--Zn ferrite is employed as a core material, and cut-away parts in the vicinities of a gap are filled with a glass the contraction rate of which is lower than that of the ferrite. A principal magnetic circuit-forming plane of the core is brought into agreement with the {1 1 0} plane of the ferrite, while an angle .theta. defined between the direction within the {1 1 0} plane of the ferrite and a gap forming plane is made 5.degree.-40.degree. or 80.degree.-120.degree.. The magnetic head thus constructed exhibits very favorable write and read characteristics.

The magnetic storage apparatus has a characteristic that the high-frequency oscillator is not operated except in recording.
