    摘要: A tappet is used in a valve-operating mechanism of an internal combustion engine. The tappet has a top wall and the upper surface of the top wall is engaged with a cam. The lower surface is engaged on a poppet valve which moves up and down. A downward projection which has a recess for storing lubricating oil is formed in the middle of the lower surface of the top wall of the tappet, thereby lubricating interfaces with the cam or valve to improve frictional or wear resistance.

    摘要: A detector and method for detecting data modulated into a timing based servo pattern prerecorded on a media, comprising shifts of pairs of non-parallel transition stripes arranged in a frame of two bursts. Timing intervals between sequential transition stripes are detected. Interval comparison logic compares selected timing intervals and indicates whether the compared intervals represent a “0”, or a “1”. First and second counters respectively increment the number of the compared intervals representing a “0” and representing a “1” in each frame. Bit comparison logic compares, for each frame, the incremented numbers representing a “0” and a “1” to a predetermined criteria and, upon one of the numbers meeting the criteria, identifies the corresponding “0” or “1” as the bit value for the frame. The bits are data comprising longitudinal position words arranged in a linear sequence. Sequence logic calculates the next sequential position word from an immediately preceding word and determines whether the detected word is in the linear sequence as a validity check, and provides the calculated word as the output. Thus, the correct position word is provided at the output even if the detected word is invalid.

    摘要: There are provided a planar antenna that reduces interactions between an antenna section and a peripheral circuit section on each other's electric operations in an apparatus in which an antenna and a peripheral circuit are arranged together on a printed circuit board, and a communication device and a card-type terminal that use the planar antenna. The planar antenna has the antenna section and the peripheral circuit section which are arranged on the printed circuit board. The planar antenna includes: on one surface of the printed circuit board, a plate element that constitutes the antenna section, a microstrip line that is connected with the plate element and feeds electricity from a peripheral circuit to the plate element, and a peripheral circuit mounting area in which the peripheral circuit section is arranged; and, on the other surface of the printed circuit board, a first ground portion that constitutes a ground-side conductor of the peripheral circuit section, and a second ground portion that constitutes a ground-side conductor of the microstrip line. The second ground portion is arranged on the printed circuit board other than the first ground portion. The connection between the plate element and the microstrip line is located on the side of the second ground portion away from the first ground portion.

    摘要: A method for transferring corrected data to an external buffer within a tape drive is disclosed. After the receipt of data from a data recording medium, the data are stored in an external buffer. The data are then transferred from the external buffer to an error correction code (ECC) device. Any error in the data within the ECC device are corrected. The corrected data are subsequently divided into multiple sub-units, and a transfer flag is added to each of the sub-units having corrected data. Only the sub-units having corrected data are transferred from the ECC device back to the external buffer.

    摘要: An antenna device is provided which is capable of dealing with two or more frequencies or of carrying out communications using two or more communication methods by a single antenna and of controlling its directivity and, therefore, of achieving improvements in communication performance of the antenna device. The antenna device is so constructed that its shape is freely changed and its directivity can be changed to deal with a signal in any frequency band. The antenna device is made up of two or more antenna elements and switches which put each of the antenna elements into a connected or disconnected state. By controlling the switches, a shape of the antenna is changed so as to have a 90-degree bent dipole configuration to provide directivity, and a length of the antenna is changed so as to allow a changeover of a frequency band. The antenna device has a reflector being similar to the dipole-type antenna, which enables improvements in its directivity.
