    摘要: Apparatuses, methods, and systems are disclosed for switching a communication mode of a remote UE. One apparatus includes a processor (405) and a radio transceiver (425) that communicates with a relay unit (120). Here, the processor (405) decides to handover the relay unit (120) and determines a group of one or more remote units (105) associated with the relay unit (120), wherein the relay unit (120) is a relay for the group. The processor (405) selects a target base unit (110) of a mobile communication network based on the relay unit (120) and the group of one or more remote units (105) and determines a first subgroup of remote units (105) from among the group of one or more remote units (105) that cannot be supported by the target base unit (110). The processor (405) also sends, to a remote unit (105) in the first subgroup of remote units (105), a command to resume communication with the mobile communication network without using the relay unit (120).

    摘要: Apparatuses, methods, and systems are disclosed for attaching a remote unit to a mobile core network via a non-3GPP access network. One apparatus includes a processor that initiates a first authentication procedure with a remote unit over the access network and sends an attach request to the core network on behalf of the remote unit. The processor receives an attachment authentication request from the core network and transforms the attachment authentication request into authentication request of the first authentication procedure. The processor further uses an authentication response of the first authentication procedure to complete attachment to the core network. In certain embodiments, the apparatus also includes first and second network interfaces that communicate with the remote unit over the access network and with the core network, respectively.

    摘要: The invention relates to system for authenticating a GPRS communication unit (231). A communication system comprises a GPRS sub-communication system (201) and a local network (203) such as an IEEE 802.11 Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN). The GPRS communication unit (231) is a dual-mode communication unit operable to communicated on both the local network (203) and the GPRS sub-communication system (201). The GPRS communication unit (231) attaches to an access point (225) of the local network using a local network protocol. The GPRS communication unit (231) is authenticated and attached to the GPRS sub-communication system (201) by communicating GPRS authentication messages between the GPRS communication unit (231) and a GPRS authentication element (215) through the access point (225) by encapsulation of GPRS authentication messages in local network authentication messages. Hence, authentication of a dual mode communication unit on a GPRS communication system is enabled in the context of a local network authentication process.

One apparatus (300) includes a processor (305), a first transceiver (325) that communicates with a mobile communication network via a first access network, and a second transceiver (330) that communicates with the mobile communication network via a second access network. The processor (305) sends (710) a request to start authentication via the second access network and receives (715) an extensible authentication protocol (“EAP”) request with a first expanded type via the second access network. The processor (305) sends (720) an EAP response via the second access network, the EAP response comprising the first expanded type, a first set of parameters, and a first message. Here, the first message is a same type of message usable to establish a connection with the mobile communication network over the first access network.

The communication apparatus comprises a private base station, such as a Home Node B, for communicating with a communication device authorised to use the private base station and a gateway, such as a Home Node B gateway, communicatively coupled to the private base station for providing access to an IP Multimedia Subsystem, IMS, network and at least one other communication network, such as a Circuit Switched, CS, network. The private base station is arranged to select a route for providing a service to the communication device through the private base station and gateway, the selected route being one of a route between the communication device and the IMS network and a route between the communication device and the at least one other communication network.
