    摘要: A transflective liquid crystal display panel includes an array substrate and a color filter substrate. The array substrate includes a plurality of scanning lines and signal lines arranged in a matrix, a lower electrode and an upper electrode in each of pixel regions surrounded by the scanning lines and the signal lines, and a reflecting plate disposed partly below each lower electrode, the lower electrode and the upper electrode in each pixel region being disposed facing each other with an insulating film therebetween, the lower electrodes being composed of a transparent conductive material, the upper electrodes each having a plurality of slits. The color filter substrate includes color filter layer segments arranged in correspondence to the pixel regions. The plurality of slits in each upper electrode have first open ends and second closed ends. Each color filter layer segment for the corresponding pixel region has a window where the color filter layer segment does not exist, the window being located at a position above the corresponding reflecting plate and facing the second closed ends of the slits.

    摘要: A liquid crystal device includes a pair of substrates, liquid crystal sandwiched between the pair of substrates, and a plurality of sub-pixels. Each sub-pixel has a transmissive display region and a reflective display region. One of the substrates has a color filter and a transparent insulating film disposed on the color filter. The transparent insulating film has a thin-walled portion provided in the transmissive display region and a region along a boundary between the adjacent sub-pixels. At least a portion of a region in which the thin-walled portion of the transparent insulating film is not provided overlaps the reflective display region. The layer thickness of the liquid crystal in the reflective display region is smaller than the layer thickness of the liquid crystal in the transmissive display region in consideration of the thin-walled portion.

The liquid crystal display can include a pair of substrates with a liquid crystal layer interposed therebetween, the liquid crystal layer having negative dielectric anisotropy. In the liquid crystal display, a dot region can include a transmission display section and a reflection display section. Disposed between the a substrate and the liquid crystal layer is a bank layer for making the thickness of the liquid crystal layer in the reflection display section smaller than that of the liquid crystal layer in the transmission display section. A protrusion for initially tilting the orientation of liquid crystal can be disposed between the substrate and the liquid crystal layer in the transmission display section. The height of the protrusion can be larger than that of the bank layer in the reflection display section.

A liquid crystal display includes an upper substrate and a lower substrate and facing each other, liquid crystal layers disposed between the upper substrate and the lower substrate, an upper polarizing layer disposed above the liquid crystal layers, and a lower reflective polarizing layer disposed below the liquid crystal layers. The lower reflective polarizing layer has a plurality of convex ridges having a triangle wave shape in cross-section and includes a multilayer dielectric film, disposed over the convex ridges, including a plurality of dielectric sub-layers; and the thickness of the multilayer dielectric film disposed on ridgeline portions of the convex ridges is less than or equal to 50% of the height of the convex ridges.
