Abstract: Apparatus and methods are provided for on-demand system information (SI) delivery. In one novel aspect, an indicator in the minimum system information (MSI) indicates whether an SI or an SI group is delivered with broadcast or unicast. In one embodiment, the UE receives a MSI, obtains from the MSI the other SI (OSI) delivery mode indicator, and sends an on-demand SI request if the OSI delivery mode indicates the unicast delivery mode, otherwise acquires OSI information in a predefined or scheduled period if the OSI delivery mode indicates the broadcast delivery mode. In one embodiment, the delivery mode is unicast and the SI request is sent at a timing or resource explicitly configured in a SI change notification message. In another embodiment, the delivery mode is broadcast and updated SI is obtained based on the scheduling information included in the SI change notification message.

Abstract: Enhanced paging mechanisms are proposed for Machine Type Communication (MTC) devices in 3GPP networks. First, adaptive paging is proposed to adaptively allocate extra paging occasions for MTC devices with no extra procedure or power consumption on normal UEs. Second, group paging is proposed to simultaneously page a plurality of MTC devices with one paging. Group paging is controlled in different levels for optimized signaling and easier management. In one embodiment, group broadcasting and group release are used. Third, paging with response policy is proposed to pre-define or dynamically configure paging response policies for MTC devices.

Abstract: A method to prioritize sidelink logical channel (SL LCH) during destination UE selection for sidelink Logical Channel Prioritization (LCP) procedure in NR sidelink communication is proposed to avoid resource starvation. A TX UE prioritizes an RX UE having at least one SL LCH that has not satisfied a required minimum bit rate during destination UE selection when allocating SL resource to a new MAC PDU for SL transmission. The TX UE maintains a value Bj for each SL LCH j, where Bj>0 indicates that the logical channel has not met the requirement of prioritized bit rate. If at least one destination UE has SL LCH with data available for transmission and with Bj>0, then the selected destination UE is the one has the highest-priority SL LCH with data available for transmission and with Bj>0.

Abstract: Mechanism of relay UE discovery and relay UE selection and reselection for remote UE data transmission with a serving base station via relay UE is proposed. A method operable for relay UE selection and reselection of remote UE is provided. The UE considers additional criteria such as relay load other than purely radio signal quality (e.g., RSRP) criteria. The relay load can serve different purpose for relay UE and remote UE. The relay load can be the criteria for UE to become a relay UE or not. It can be the criteria for a remote UE to select another UE as its relay UE.

Abstract: A method of UE prioritizing and multiplexing simultaneous sidelink relay data for Logical Channel Prioritization (LCP) procedure in new radio (NR) system is proposed. UE can provide traffic prioritization based on traffic category when UE has simultaneous traffic from more than one traffic categories to transmit. The sidelink relay traffic prioritization is then used for transmission interface and resource selection, and data multiplexing prioritization on the basis of sidelink relay architecture. Specifically, a method on how to perform the corresponding logical channel prioritization (LCP) operation for MAC PDU multiplexing is provided. LCP restriction is considered to determine which classes of traffic can be multiplexed into the same MAC PDU together. Priority of multiplexing is also applied to determine the order and the amount of traffic to be included in the MAC PDU.

Abstract: An apparatus detects a beam failure of a serving cell. In response, the apparatus triggers a beam failure recovery request (BFRQ). The BFRQ remains pending until cancelled. In triggering the BFRQ the apparatus generates a BFRQ medium access control (MAC) control element (CE) and transmits the BFRQ MAC CE to a wireless network using a resource according to an uplink (UL) grant.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods are provided for on-demand SI request procedure. In one novel aspect, the RACH procedure is used for one-demand SI information updates through unicast. In one embodiment, the UE sends an embedded SI request message in Msg3 requesting one or more on-demand SI including a UE ID. The SI response and the information of the requested SI are included in the Msg4 or in a separate unicasted message. In another embodiment, one or more assistant information is included in Msg3 or are associated with the preamble in Msg1. In another novel aspect, the preamble of the Msg1 is associated with a group X of SIB. Upon detecting the failure of transmission of the SI request, the UE monitors and receives updated SI information of the whole group X through a broadcast channel.

Abstract: A method of adaptive transmission time interval (TTI) tuning based on TCP information is proposed. First, a procedure for TCP information delivery between eNB and TCP sender/TCP receiver is disclosed. The TCP information comprises TCP status, TCP congestion window (CWND) size, TCP round trip delay, TCP SS threshold, TCP index, and TCP event indication. Second, various methods for eNB to configure TTI with UE TCP information and/or buffer information are disclosed. A first method is saturation detection which includes buffer status based saturation detection and CWND based saturation detection. A second method is Greedy Buffer Clearing. A third method is TCP state based TTI selection method.
