Abstract:
A paving element for the water-permeable reinforcement of surfaces, said paving element comprising a top surface, a bottom surface and a plurality of sides. One or more of the sides have vertical recesses extending from the top surface of the paving element to the bottom surface. The recesses are disposed asymmetrically about the mid points of the sides such that recesses of the adjacent sides of neighboring elements are offset from one another when the neighboring elements are laid in alignment, thereby avoiding alignment of the recesses. Alternatively, an offset of the recesses on neighboring stones is achieved by laying the elements in a displaced or staggered manner.
Abstract:
A transmission unit for a vehicle driven by muscle power. The transmission unit has one through shaft and one output shaft, as well as at least two sub-transmissions and at least one intermediate shaft. In the transmission unit at least one of the intermediate shafts and the output shaft is formed as a hollow shaft which is arranged coaxially to another shaft of the transmission unit.
Abstract:
A diagonal ventilating fan (30) has a fan housing (36) and a fan wheel (80), rotatable around a rotation axis, that has associated with it an electric motor (73) to drive it, the fan wheel (80) extending in the direction of the rotation axis between an air inlet side and an air outlet side of the diagonal ventilating fan (30) and serving, as it rotates, to convey air in a main delivery direction from the air inlet side to the air outlet side. The fan wheel (80) has a preferred rotation direction so that, during operation, its blades (82) each have a front side and a back side, and a negative-pressure zone (110) occurs, during operation, adjacent each respective back side of a blade (82). An auxiliary cooling air blower (76) connects to the respective zones (110) to provide an improved flow of cooling air for the electric motor (73).
Abstract:
A translation graph is created using a plurality of reference sources that include translations between a plurality of different languages. Each entry in a source is used to create a wordsense entry, and each new word in a source is used to create a wordnode entry. A pair of wordnode and wordsense entries corresponds to a translation. In addition, a probability is determined for each wordsense entry and is decreased for each translation entry that includes more than a predefined number of translations into the same language. Bilingual translation entries are removed if subsumed by a multilingual translation entry. Triangulation is employed to identify pairs of common wordsense translations between a first, second, and third language. Translations not found in reference sources can also be inferred from the data comprising the translation graph. The translation graph can then be used for searches of a data collection in different languages.
Abstract:
A dental prophylaxis paste holder dispenser comprises a first prophylaxis paste and a second prophylaxis paste. The first prophylaxis paste has a first material. The second prophylaxis paste has a second material. The first material has a first material property and the second material has a second material property. The first material property differs from the second material property.
Abstract:
A transmission unit (7) is proposed herewith for a vehicle driven by muscle power, said transmission unit (7) having one through shaft (13) and one output shaft (23), as well as having at least two sub-transmissions ([a],[aa],[b],[c],[d],[e]) and having at least one intermediate shaft (17,19a,19b,21). The transmission unit (7) is characterised by at least one of the intermediate shafts (17,19a,19b,21) and/or the output shaft (23) being formed as a hollow shaft which is arranged coaxially to another shaft of the transmission unit (7). Abstract:
Methods and apparatus are disclosed for leak testing the ventilation system of an environmental enclosure using a gas that is naturally present in ambient air, such as nitrogen, oxygen, argon, or carbon dioxide, as a tracer gas. In one embodiment, a gas filter capable of filtering all of the tracer gas from the air flowing through the filter is installed in the ventilation system. Testing is performed by operating the ventilation system to cause outside air to flow through the filter and into the enclosure so as to establish positive pressurization inside the enclosure. A gas monitor placed inside the enclosure is used to detect for the presence of leaks in the ventilation system by monitoring the concentration of the tracer gas inside the enclosure.
Abstract:
A remote sensor having a thermal transducer, an acoustic transducer, and a magnetic transducer. The remote sensor can communicate data from any of the transducers via any of three different communication links, which include an active RF transceiver, an IRDA transceiver, and an RF backscatter transceiver.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an artificial stone floor element with a basic shape that corresponds to the combination of a plurality of square basic elements, especially to an angular floor element. The floor element includes projections and recesses along its peripheral sides of the basic element when seen from the center of the respective top face of the basic element is substantially point-symmetric with respect to its mid-point. The inventive floor element is further characterized in that the profile consists of three projections and three recesses.
