Abstract:
A bias field generator can provide a magnetic bias field for a magnetic sensor. The bias field generator includes a body with magnetic or magnetizable material. A recess is formed in the body. The recess is adapted to a package of the magnetic sensor.
Abstract:
A system (1) for storing and/or retrieving a data-set is proposed, wherein the data-set comprises a plurality of data-files, the system comprising: storage(3) for storing the data-set; at least one client(2) being operable to write the data-set to the storage and/or to read the data-set from the storage; to receive an access-request from the client for accessing at least one data-file of the data-set in the storage, wherein the storage master(5) is operable to send an access-message to the storage, wherein the storage is operable to cache further data-files or blocks thereof of the same data-set and/or to allocate storage space for further data-files or blocks thereof of the same data-set as a reaction on the access-message.
Abstract:
A filter paper insert for a filtration extract includes side walls surrounding an inside space that can be filled with the filtration extract. The side walls are comprised of at least two filter material layers.
Abstract:
The invention relates to the field of data transmission in a network of distributed stations. One problem, particularly in a UPnP based network, is that the UPNP devices need to be constantly switched on in order to be available in the network. The invention intervenes at this point and describes ways in which unused network stations can be switched off but continue to be identified as devices in the network. If a device which is switched off is needed, it is automatically switched on. This allows a considerable power saving to be achieved in the network. The invention provides for a network connection switching unit to contain “communication maintenance means” which maintain the communication for an inactivated network station at least to a restricted extent instead of the inactivated network station. A network station matched thereto is also proposed.
Abstract:
In the transfer of AV data flows, especially in a network environment, a delayed transition from one operating mode to the other operating mode will be possible when changing the operating mode from e.g. normal replay to fast forward search. This is due to the fact that—in the transfer from data source to data sink different buffer memory stages must be passed before the transferred data finally come to decoding. When the request for changing the operating mode comes, the data already present in the buffer memories must first be processed before the actually requested new data come to be decoded. For the solution of the problem described, it is suggested according to the invention that—after the request of changing the operating mode—the undesirable data in the buffer memories are quickly eliminated through suitable measures so that the desired data can then be decoded faster. To do that, an identifier for the new operating mode is inserted in the data flow on the part of the data source device. The decoder driver of the decoder in the data sink device will search for the inserted identifier in the data flow and reject all data packets which are not combined with this identifier. Thus, the buffer memory stages are discharged fast and a smooth transition with the change of operating mode will be realized.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention provide a distributed networked ozonation system for ozonation of storage rooms containing fresh or perishable products, and also may be useful in other applications involving multiple ozonated zones. An exemplary embodiment uses a set of distributed ozone generators connected to a communication network. An exemplary ozone generator comprises an ozone sensor, an ozone-generating cell, and a controller, and also may comprise an air cooling unit with an ozone destruct air filter, so that the generator may be placed within an ozonated environment. The ozone level of the storage area may be under closed-loop feedback control. The controller may communicate with other controllers at the same site and with a site controller, which in turn may communicate with a remote controller.
Abstract:
A pressure-relief valve has a flange formed with a throughgoing port. A spring plate spaced outward from the port is mounted on a rigid post fixing the spring plate relative to the flange. A valve body between the plate and the flange can shift between a closed position engaging the seal and closing the port and an open position spaced outward from the port and permitting flow through the port; A spring braced between the spring plate and the valve body urges the valve body into the closed position. A cup-shaped housing covering the valve body, spring plate, post, and springs has an end wall spaced from the flange and a side wall projecting from the end wall toward the casing and formed with a vent opening.
Abstract:
A prosthetic ankle assembly including an astragalar component with an upper articular surface that forms part of an ankle joint prosthesis and a lower surface with a shape adapted to engage an upper face of an astragalus. An astragalocalcanean rod is positioned in an astragalocalcanean channel extending from the lower face of the calcaneus to the upper surface of the astragalus. A first end of the astragalocalcanean rod is engage with the lower surface of the astragalar component and a second end of the astragalocalcanean rod is engaged with a lower region of the calcaneus. A distance between the second end of the astragalocalcanean rod is adjustable relative to the lower surface of the astragalar component to adjustably compress the calcaneus against the astragalus.
Abstract:
A method is provided for packaging harvested plant tissues, such as agricultural products. Embodiments of the present invention mitigate damage to harvested plant tissues due to excessive ripening and spoilage, by contacting the plant tissues with ozone during transportation and storage. For example, in some embodiments harvested plant tissues are placed in substantially closed modified atmosphere packages, and the packages are surrounded by an atmosphere containing ozone. In alternative embodiments, the packaging may be perforated, and the packages placed in a controlled atmosphere that contains ozone. Harvested plant tissues may be treated with ozone before packaging further to promote their freshness. The present invention thus increases the longevity and value of harvested plant tissues beyond the abilities of currently available packaging methods.
