摘要: A lens array unit focuses the light emitted from light emitting elements on the photoconductive drum. A longitudinally extending lens array includes a plurality of lenses and projections. The lenses are aligned in a row substantially perpendicular to optical axes of the lenses. The projections are disposed on both sides of the row, and extend outwardly further than the lens surfaces to protect the lens surfaces of the plurality of lenses. A light shielding member includes a mounting portion that holds the lens plate and a light shielding portion that shields part light passing through the lenses.

摘要: A toner is used in an image-forming apparatus that incorporates a toner-collecting member. The toner-collecting member collects residual toner on a surface of an image-bearing body. The toner includes a spherical toner having at least a binder resin, and an irregularly-shaped particles mixed with the spherical toner. The irregularly shaped particle has an average diameter in the range of 1–50 μm. The average diameter is 14 to 10% of the diameter of a spot printed by the image-forming apparatus. The irregularly shaped particle is a toner having the same color as the spherical toner. The irregularly shaped particle is a colorless toner. The irregularly shaped particle is charged opposite in polarity to the spherical toner. The irregularly has a roundness of 0.85 or less.

摘要: It is an object of the present invention to improve a rate of recognition and recognition speed, reduce a degree of a specification required for a device forming a photographing device or a system and lower consumed electric power and a cost. In a character recognition processing method according to the present invention, a character image as an object whose character is to be recognized is displayed on a display (12) together with a cursor of a character frame for recognizing a character. While the cursor is set to a character string as an object to be recognized, the character image is photographed by a photographing part (9). In an image fetching part (3), the image data of the photographed character image is fetched. In a layout analyzing part (5), the fetched image data of the character image and cursor position information from a cursor control part (4) corresponding to the character image are received. The image data is collated with the cursor position information to analyze the arrangement of the lines or characters of the character string as the object to be recognized. Then, in a character cutting part (6), the character is cut on the basis of the analyzed result. The character is recognized relative to the character image by a character recognizing part (7) to convert the image data to character data.

摘要: An electrophotographic image forming apparatus fuses an image to a recording medium by heat and pressure. To ensure that the recording medium does not stick to the fusing roller, a non-printable margin is normally reserved at the leading edge of the recording medium. When the recording medium has sufficient stiffness, however, as determined from its thickness and other factors such as its width or orientation, marginless printing is permitted. The setting of an unnecessary margin is thereby avoided.

摘要: Bit data of a received video signal is partially converted into a first signal representing a data sequence corresponding to the resolution of an LED head. The remaining bit data of the received video signal, which are not converted into the first signal are converted into a second signal representing another data sequence corresponding to the resolution of an LED head. The LED head includes a resolution conversion circuit which converts the video data into the first signal and the second signal. The signals are stored in a shift register having a plurality of line buffers. The first signal is printed on a basic raster line and the second signal is printed on an additional raster line. An LED head drive energy with which basic raster lines are printed and another LED head drive energy with which additional raster lines are printed are set independently of each other.

摘要: Bit data of a received video signal is partially converted into a first signal representing a data sequence corresponding to the resolution of an LED head. The first signal is transmitted to the LED head in the form of a real printing data signal that is to be printed on a basic raster line in synchronism with a line timing signal. The remaining bit data of the received video signal, which are not converted into the first signal, are converted into a second signal representing another data sequence, and then stored in a line buffer. The second signal stored in the line buffer is transmitted to the LED head in the form of a real printing data signal that is to be printed on an additional raster line in synchronism with an additional line timing signal. The LED head drive energy with which the basic raster lines are printed and another LED head drive energy with which the additional raster lines are printed are set independently of each other.

摘要: A multivoltage power supply which can output a plurality of high voltages in parallel. The voltage values of the respective outputs are feedback to an A/D converter. Each feedback signal is converted to a digital signal and the difference between the digital signal and a corresponding predetermined output voltage is then calculated in the form of a digital value. This digital value is inputted to a corresponding auto-reload timer, whereby a pulse signal having a pulse width corresponding to the digital value is output at a predetermined frequency.

摘要: An image forming apparatus includes a determining unit, an image forming unit, a fixing member, a pressing member, a separating member and a release agent applying member. The determining unit determines whether to print a borderless image or not. The image forming unit forms a developer image on a recording medium in accordance with the printing data so that the developer image reaches the vicinity of a leading end of the recording medium. The fixing member fixes the developer image to the recording medium. The pressing member is pressed against the fixing member to form a nip portion therebetween. The separating member is disposed on a downstream side of the nip portion so that the separating member has no contact with the fixing member. The separating member separates the recording medium from the fixing member. The release agent applying member applies a release agent to the fixing member.
