    摘要: The invention provides a light emitting device and an element substrate in which a luminance variation of light emitting elements among pixels due to variation in characteristics of driving transistors can be suppressed even without suppressing the off-current of a switching transistor low or increasing the capacitance of a capacitor. A gate of a first transistor is connected to a first scan line, and a gate of a second transistor is connected to a second scan line. A connection between a signal line and a gate of a third transistor is controlled by the first transistor. The second transistor and the third transistor are connected in series between a pixel electrode of a light emitting element and a power supply line. The signal line, the second scan line and the power supply line are disposed in parallel, while the first scan line is crossed with the signal line, the second scan line and the power supply line.

According to the invention, a depletion mode transistor is used as a driving transistor. The gate of the driving transistor is fixed in its potential or connected to the source or drain thereof to operate in a saturation region with a constant current flow. A current controlling transistor which operates in a linear region is connected in series to the driving transistor, and a video signal for transmitting a light emission or non-emission of a pixel is inputted to the gate of the current controlling transistor through a switching transistor.

    摘要: No need of lowering off-current of a switching transistor, fewer luminance variations of a light emitting element between pixels due to characteristic variations of a driving transistor, and less risk of steps due to increase in the number of wirings. A video signal for light emission or non-emission of a pixel is input to a gate of a current controlling transistor operated in a linear region, which is connected in series with the driving transistor, through a switching transistor. Since a voltage Vds between a source and a drain of the current controlling transistor is small, small changes in a voltage Vgs between a gate and a source thereof do not affect a current flowing in a load. The current flowing in the light emitting element is determined by the driving transistor operated in a saturation region, and a fixed potential is input to the gate thereof during light emission.

The display device of the invention has a first transistor, a second transistor, a third transistor, a light emitting element, a source driver, a first gate driver, and a second gate driver. A gate electrode of the first transistor is connected to a gate line, one of a source electrode and a drain electrode thereof is connected to a source line and the other is connected to a gate electrode of the third transistor. The light emitting element, the second transistor and the third transistor are connected in series between a first power source and a second power source. A gate electrode of the second transistor is connected to a third power source, the source driver is connected to the source line, and the first gate driver and the second gate driver are connected to the gate line.

    摘要: A semiconductor device in which electrostatic discharge damage during manufacturing steps is prevented. More specifically, a semiconductor device in which electrostatic discharge damage during a step in which the formation of a pixel electrode is completed is prevented. A semiconductor device of the invention comprises a light emitting element, a driving transistor and a protection means disposed between the light emitting element and the driving transistor. The protection means comprises as least one of a resistor element, a capacitor element and a rectifier element. More specifically, the protection means is disposed between a pixel electrode of the light emitting element and a source electrode or a drain electrode of the driving transistor. It is to be noted that the rectifier element is an element having a rectifying function and corresponds to a diode or a transistor whose drain electrode and gate electrode are connected to each other.

    摘要: When a thin film transistor has an LDD structure or a double gate structure, the number of manufacturing steps increases, which may decrease the yield. The invention provides a display device where the influence of off current is reduced by a method different from the conventional one. According to the invention, a pass element is provided at one electrode of a light emitting element so as not to flow the off current of a transistor for driving the light emitting element through the light emitting element in a non-lighting period. The pass element allows the off current to flow outside, that is, the off current can be bypassed outside through the pass element.
