摘要: A method and system including a scanning subsystem for scanning a plurality of documents with a plurality of corresponding images is presented. The system further includes an image generation subsystem for automatically generating (1) a plurality of thumbnail images corresponding to the plurality of documents scanned with the scanner, and (2) a mark sense area corresponding to each one of the plurality of thumbnail images. A printing subsystem is included for producing at least one print including the plurality of thumbnail images and a plurality of mark sense areas. A thumbnail selection module is also included that causes at least one of the plurality of corresponding images to be replaced when both the at least one print with one or more marked mark sense areas and at least one of the plurality of documents are scanned with the scanning subsystem.

摘要: An image data storage system and associated method store, on one or more disk drives in a disk drive array, original image data for different images as well as multiple resolution levels of compressed image data for each image. The lowest resolution level image data for multiple different images (i.e., “thumbnail” copies of images) are grouped together and stored within sectors closest to the center. The progressively higher resolution levels of image data for the same images can similarly be grouped together and stored within sectors sequentially from a first track closest to the center to a last track closet to an outer edge. Alternatively, all higher resolution levels of image data for any single image can be grouped together and stored within a same sector as close to the center as possible. This organization can significantly reduce average access time for large collections of images.

摘要: A content or document management system includes a content or document repository; a dedicated e-mail account; and a mail agent associated with the dedicated e-mail account. The mail agent processes a received e-mail message to determine a sender's identity; authenticates the identity of the sender and an authorization of the sender with respect to the content or document repository; parses, when a sender is authenticated and authorized, document request information from the e-mail message; and either stores a document to or retrieves a document from the content or document repository. The mail agent may authenticate the identity of the sender using a digital signature, or may authenticate the identity of the sender using an e-mail address in a FROM header field of the received e-mail message header. The mail agent may decrypt encrypted messages from the sender, and may sign and encrypt responses to the sender.

摘要: A printing system disposed in a local or wide area network in which one of a plurality of queries is transmitted from a client to a server for obtaining a set of information including both a file with static information and a subset of dynamic information is provided. The subset of dynamic information varies as a function of one or more print related characteristics of a document processing system with which the server communicates. The printing system includes a parsing subsystem, communicating with the client for receiving the one of the plurality of queries, the parsing subsystem facilitating the obtaining of the set of information by copying a portion of the file, in response to reading a first instruction, and communicating the copied portion at the server for storage thereat. The printing system further includes a query resolving subsystem, communicating with the parsing subsystem, for obtaining the subset of dynamic information from the document processing system in response to the parsing system reading a second instruction. In practice, the copied portion of the file and the subset of dynamic information are combined for output thereof at the client.

摘要: A document server is provided for processing a distribution job in a document processing system. The document processing system includes a document manager, communicating with first and second virtual services, for coordinating the storing or processing of first and second copies of an image data set at the first and second virtual services, respectively. The document processing system further includes a distribution agent, communicating with the document manager, for receiving a first job ticket, including attributes for controlling the storing or processing of the first copy of the image data set at the first virtual service and a second job ticket for controlling the storing or processing of the second copy of the image data set at the second virtual service. The document manager and the distribution agent function cooperatively to provide the document server with the capability to halt the processing of the first and second copies of the image data set in order for altering attributes of the first and second job tickets, and to determine the status of the processing of the first and second copies of the image data set. Moreover, the distribution agent can provide values for attributes of the first and second job tickets when a user does not program those values in the first and second job tickets.
