Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may transmit, to a base station, a control message indicating a capability of the UE to identify and report a reciprocity parameter between downlink communications and uplink communications of a channel between the UE and the base station. In some examples, the base station may request a reciprocity report from the UE. The UE may identify a reciprocity parameter based on one or more parameters associated with an array of antennas at the UE. The reciprocity parameter may indicate a reciprocity between an uplink beam and a downlink beam, such as a degree of overlap between the uplink beam and the downlink beam. The UE may report the reciprocity parameter via a reciprocity report to the base station. In some examples, the base station may identify one or more parameters based on the reciprocity report.

Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for early termination of decoding attempts, including decoding attempts associated with physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) candidates that are encoded using a rateless code. In some aspects, a transmitting device may encode a message using a rateless code associated with a cumulative encoding of various portions of the message, and using a device identifier or group identifier as an input to the encoding. Similarly, a receiving device may receive an encoded signal over candidate resources and may attempt to decode the signal in accordance with the rateless code and using a device identifier or a group identifier as an input to the decoding. As such, intended or non-intended receiving device may be able to evaluate whether to proceed with a decoding attempt or to terminate a decoding attempt at a relatively early stage.

Abstract: Disclosed are techniques related to wireless communication system in which multi-level encoded modulation (MLCM) is applied to non-coherent communication. In the proposed techniques, a small fraction of differential phase rotations or bits participating in differential symbol coding are protected with strong codes while other complementary differential phase rotations or bits are protected with weaker codes. Compared to conventional non-coherent communication techniques in which a uniform protection is applied to any fraction of differential phase rotation or any bit of a differential symbol, the proposed MLCM approach enables more spectrally efficient scheme.

Abstract: In one aspect, a method for wireless communication includes transmitting a first message indicating a precoding matrix identifier configured to identify a particular precoding matrix for precoding by another wireless communication device for at least one future transmission; and receiving a second message indicating information about whether the particular precoding matrix was or will be used for the at least one future transmission. In another aspect, a method for wireless communication includes receiving a first message indicating a precoding matrix identifier configured to identify a particular precoding matrix for precoding by the wireless communication device for at least one future transmission; and transmitting a second message indicating information about whether the particular precoding matrix was or will be used for precoding for the at least one future transmission. Other aspects and features are also claimed and described.

Abstract: A first wireless device may receive, from a second wireless device, a transmission associated with an MLC scheme. The MLC scheme may include a plurality of bits with at least one first bit corresponding to a first level of the plurality of bits and at least one second bit corresponding to a second level of the plurality of bits. The at least one first bit may be coded with a first level of complexity, but the at least one second bit may be coded with either the first level of complexity or a second level of complexity, where the first level of complexity may be a higher level of complexity than the second level of complexity. The first wireless device may decode the at least one first bit and the at least one second bit using a decoder having a corresponding level of complexity.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A transmitting device may select a scrambling sequence to use per symbol to reduce variance in a non-linearity parameter for a power amplifier (PA) output between a data symbol and a pilot symbol based on a PA model for at least one pilot symbol or one or more parameters of the model. The receiving device may indicate a capability to blindly estimate the scrambling sequence the transmitting device selected to the transmitting device. If the transmitting device does not receive the capability message from the receiving device or if the capability message indicates the receiving device is not capable of blind estimation, the transmitting device may indicate the selected scrambling sequence to the receiving device. Otherwise, the transmitting device may not indicate the selected scrambling sequence to the receiving device, and the receiving device may blindly estimate the scrambling sequence.
