Abstract: Apparatuses and methods are disclosed that may allow a wireless device to process an Ethertype data packet encapsulated in a frame based on whether the frame contains an Ethertype Packet Discrimination (EPD) indicator. The wireless device may receive the frame from another wireless device over a wireless network, and may detect a presence of the EPD indicator in the received frame. Then, the wireless device may identify a protocol type of the Ethertype data packet according to an EPD operation based on the presence of the EPD indicator, or may identify the protocol type of the Ethertype data packet according to an LPD operation based on an absence of the EPD indicator.

Abstract: Methods, systems, apparatuses, and devices are described for contention resolution techniques for medium access using a spatial dimension, a frequency dimension, or a combination of the both. A wireless station may determine that an access timer associated with backoff operations has expired. The wireless station may identify a domain index associated with the frequency domain, the spatial domain, or a combination. The wireless station may access the wireless medium according to the identified domain index. The wireless station may, prior to sending other transmissions, transmit a trigger frame including information associated with the resources of the wireless medium that are reserved for communications. Other wireless stations may share the medium and use the free resources.

Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for improving transmission opportunity (TxOP) truncation in wireless communication. In some implementations, a transmit opportunity (TxOP) period truncation or whether to update a network allocation vector (NAV) timing based on a message that includes transmitter and receiver information (such as a transmitter address (TA) and a receiver address (RA)) may be determined. For example, a station may receive a contention-free end (CF-End) frame and determine a TxOP period truncation based on comparing a TA and an RA included in the CF-End frame with a TA and an RA included in an earlier received message (e.g., an RTS). Such information may be compared to other TAs or RAs associated with NAV timing values and the NAV timing may be set, reset, updated, or canceled based on the comparison.

Abstract: In some aspects, a method for configuring channel access parameters in a wireless communication system includes determining, at an access point, an enhanced distributed channel access (EDCA) parameter for a first subset of stations of a plurality of stations, the first subset of stations capable of transmitting multi-user uplink transmissions. The method further includes generating an information element including the EDCA parameter. The method further includes transmitting the information element such that the information element is decodable by the first subset of stations and not by a second subset of stations of the plurality of stations.
