Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-readable media, for per-station punctured transmissions. A wireless local area network (WLAN) device may determine available resource units (RUs) within a wireless channel that has a punctured frequency range. The WLAN device may allocate a plurality of RUs, from among the available RUs, for to include data for a same station. For example, a physical layer protocol data unit (PPDU) may include more than one RU for a first station. The RUs that are allocated to the first station may exclude the punctured frequency range. In some implementations, the plurality of RUs may be separated by at least the punctured frequency range. A signaling header in the PPDU may indicate which RUs are allocated to the first station. By allocating a plurality of RUs in a PPDU, a WLAN may support per-station puncturing within the PPDU.

Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-readable media, for partial bandwidth feedback based on punctured sounding. Punctured sounding is used by a transmitting device that omits portions of a channel bandwidth based on a puncturing pattern. The puncturing pattern may be based on an exclusion bandwidth zone to avoid transmissions on portions of channels that may interfere with an incumbent system transmission. The puncturing pattern may be indicated in a null data packet announcement (NDPA) to inform the receiving device that a subsequent NDP will be punctured. The receiving device may determine the feedback by measuring the portions of the NDP that are not punctured. Beamforming may be enhanced by using punctured sounding between two beamforming endpoints.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide methods and apparatus for enabling an immediate response. In this manner, issues can be avoided where data carried by the last symbol of a frame cannot be entirely decoded by a receiver within a deadline for generating an immediate response. One example method for wireless communications by a first apparatus generally includes determining at least one constraint for communicating with a second apparatus; generating a frame that solicits a response; and outputting the frame for transmission to the second apparatus, wherein at least a last symbol of the frame is transmitted in a manner determined by the constraint to allow the second apparatus to transmit the response within a determined period.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communications and, more particularly, to Wi-Fi systems including frame extensions in transmission frames. Lengths of frame extensions may be determined based on transmission bandwidths and transmission data rates of the frames. Lengths of frame extensions may also be determined based on an amount of useful data in a final symbol of the frame. An access point (AP) may determine frame extension lengths for use in transmitting to stations (STAs) based on reception capabilities of the STAs. An AP may determine frame extension lengths for STAs to use in transmitting frames.

Abstract: A method for sending data includes receiving, at a first station of a plurality of stations, a trigger frame from an access point of a wireless network. The method also includes determining a downlink channel estimation based on the trigger frame and sending the downlink channel estimation to the access point. The method further includes receiving uplink channel data from the access point in response to sending the downlink channel estimation. The method also includes sending data to the access point based on the uplink channel data.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to apparatus and methods for switching operating bandwidth and/or operating channel in a wireless communications network. A transmitting STA may send an announcement of a switch to a particular bandwidth in a frame, wherein the presence or absence of a Secondary Channel Offset Element and a Wide Bandwidth Channel Switch Element in the frame indicates whether the particular bandwidth belongs to a first or second set of operating bandwidths. The presence of the Secondary Channel Offset Element and a Wide Bandwidth Channel Switch Element in the frame may indicate a switch to the first set of operating bandwidths. The first set of operating bandwidths may include VHT channels including 80 MHz only, 80+80 MHz and 160 MHz channels. The absence of the Secondary Channel Offset Element and a Wide Bandwidth Channel Switch Element in the frame may indicate a switch to the second set of operating bandwidths. The second set of operating bandwidths may include 20 MHz and 40 MHz channels.

Abstract: A receiver includes power estimation circuitry configured to estimate a first power associated with a first field of a packet and a second power associated with a second field of the packet. The receiver additionally includes channel estimation circuitry configured to determine a second channel estimation of a channel associated with communication of the packet. The second channel estimation is determined based on the first power, the second power, and a first channel estimation of the channel.
