Abstract: Timer configurations for new radio (NR) unlicensed (NR-U) and NR shared spectrum (NR-SS) operations are disclosed. In NR-U and NR-SS operations, certain event timers may be interrupted by a user equipment (UE) when it detects that its serving base station has failed a listen before talk (LBT) procedure, thereby losing access to the shared communication spectrum. When the UE detects a subsequent successful LBT, it resumes the progression of the event timer. In NR-SS operations, the UE may also interrupt the applicable timers either in all slots dedicated to another operator or in all slots in which the serving base station does not have transmission access.

Abstract: A user equipment includes a processor configured to: receive a first, second, and third reference signals including a first, second, and third sets of tones, and spanning first, second, and third frequency ranges in first and second sets of symbols and at least one third symbol, respectively, the first and second frequency ranges differing; where at least one of (1) the third frequency range overlaps the first frequency range, or (2) the at least one third symbol overlaps with the first set of symbols and the third frequency range overlaps the second frequency range; determine an offset between the first reference signal and the supplemental signal using the third set of tones; and determine a first indication, of a time and/or a range, based on a combination of the first reference signal and the second reference signal using the offset.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems implementing beamforming, a neighboring base station may cause interference to a user equipment (UE) served by a different base station. To mitigate unexpected interference, an interference coordination region including time and frequency resources may be configured between the base stations. The interference coordination region may be configured based on long-term information for the base stations and may include one or both of a set of beam-avoidance sub-regions or a set of beam-preference sub-regions for a base station, where each sub-region is associated with a beam index. A base station may schedule a communication beam in the interference coordination region based on a beam-avoidance region (e.g., refraining from using a particular communication beam) or a beam-preference region (e.g., prioritizing a particular communication beam). The base station may transmit a message to a UE using the scheduled communication beam.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some wireless communications systems, a base station may transmit a set of reference signals spanning a channel to a user equipment (UE), where each of the reference signals is associated with one of a set of transmit beams. The UE may measure a signal quality of each of the set of reference signals. In some cases, each measured signal quality may correspond to one of a set of subbands of the channel and one of the set of transmit beams. The UE may then transmit an indication of at least one signal quality associated with one of the set of subbands and one of the set of transmit beams. In some cases, the UE may indicate the at least one signal quality according to a configuration that may be indicated by the base station or selected by the UE.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for increasing the chances that a high reliability packet scheduled to be transmitted in a shared radio frequency spectrum is received by a receiving device. In one example, a wireless device (e.g., a base station or a user equipment (UE)) may duplicate a packet at a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) layer for transmission on multiple listen before talk (LBT) subchannels of a carrier to improve reliability. In another example, a wireless device may duplicate a packet at a physical (PHY) layer for transmission on multiple LBT subchannels of a carrier to improve reliability, or the wireless device may encode and map the packet to multiple LBT subchannels of a carrier for transmission on the multiple LBT subchannels to improve reliability.

Abstract: Uplink control channel transmission in a shared radio frequency spectrum band may be transmitted using different uplink resources UCI based on a format of uplink control information (UCI) to be transmitted in the uplink control channel transmission. Different time resources, frequency resources, or combinations thereof, for the transmission of UCI by a UE may be provided by a base station and selected by the UE based on a UCI format. The resources to be used for UCI transmission may semi-statically configured, or dynamically indicated to a UE. Uplink transmissions may be configured in interlaces of frequency resources, with each interlace having one or more segments, and a base station may configure different segments for transmission of different format UCI. In some cases, different subframes, or different component carriers, may be configured for different formats of UCI.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) and a base station may communicate in an unlicensed spectrum (e.g., a shared radio frequency spectrum band). As such, the UE may determine a codebook size for transmitting hybrid access request (HARQ) acknowledgement (ACK) feedback with respect to the unlicensed spectrum. Accordingly, the UE may base the HARQ ACK codebook size on a number of HARQ processes with which the UE has been configured. Additionally or alternatively, the UE may base the HARQ ACK codebook size on a number and/or duration of downlink channel monitoring occasions indicated by the base station. In some cases, the UE may base the HARQ ACK codebook size on a combination of the techniques described herein.

Abstract: Aligned listen before talk (LBT) gaps for single operator frame-based equipment (FBE) mode new radio (NR) shared spectrum (NR-SS) is disclosed. Within the FBE mode network, the base station determines a plurality of potential transmission bursts within a fixed frame period. The base station may then reserve a plurality of LBT gaps prior to the starting position of each such transmission burst. The base station communicates the location of each of the LBT gaps to all neighboring network entities and contends for access to the fixed frame period at the beginning of the frame regardless of whether it has data for transmission during the frame. Each neighboring base station that receives the LBT gaps locations will use the same locations in order to align the LBT gaps over the FBE mode network.
