Abstract:
The present invention provides a method of manufacturing a thin film magnetic head in which MR height and neck height can be determined with high precision. A plurality of thin film magnetic head bars are formed so as to include a plurality of thin film magnetic head precursors, a plurality of RLG sensors for reproducing head portions, and a plurality of RLG sensors for recording head portions. While detecting electrical resistance values of resistance films by using the RLG sensors for the reproducing head portions, the thin film magnetic head bar is pre-polished. Electrical resistance values of the resistance films are detected by using both of the RLG sensors for the reproducing head portions and the RLG sensors for the recording head portions and a tilt of a polished surface of the thin film magnetic head bar is adjusted. After that, while detecting the electrical resistance values of the resistance films by using the RLG sensors for the reproducing head portions again, the thin film magnetic head bar is finish-polished, thereby forming an air bearing surface.
Abstract:
A method, apparatus, and computer instructions for improving performance and scalability of common information model object (CIMOM) by using a hardware management console (HMC) repository. The HMC repository includes storage of HMC objects, an HMC object model and a common interface (CIM Wrapper) for accessing to HMC objects. The HMC object model allows the user to store and retrieve the CIM objects and their associations efficiently. A CIM provider may access HMC objects through a common interface (CIM Wrapper), so that different repositories are allowed to be used without significant changes to the underlying server code (CIM provider). A CIM provider may also call the HMC repository directly for more efficient operations because the number of times conversions made between the CIM object and the repository object are greatly decreased.
Abstract:
According to some embodiments of the invention, both open loop and closed loop processing may be implemented by a transaction processor. For general, unrestricted transactions, the transaction processor may direct authorization to an open loop primary authorizing entity associated with a primary account number (PAN). For restricted transactions, the transaction processor may determine the appropriate closed loop authorizing entity (e.g., a transit agency, an insurer, a retailer, etc.). The transaction processor may further create an entry in a multi-access blockchain evidencing the transaction on the closed loop or restricted account with that authorizing entity. Thus, the multi-access blockchain may be kept up-to-date, allowing the closed loop authorizing entities to verify transactions and account balances instantaneously.
Abstract:
A system for tracking gaze position is provided. In one embodiment, the system includes a first imaging unit, a second imaging unit that can provide depth data. The first imaging unit is configured to acquire subject image data, the second imaging unit is configured to acquire object image data, and the second imaging unit is configured with depth sensor or computation algorithm to acquire object depth data of objects at different depths in a three dimensional environment. A control unit is configured to receive the subject image data, the object image data and the object depth data and calculate a gaze position based on the data. A method for tracking gaze position is also provided.
Abstract:
There is provided an information processing device including: a global map acquiring unit that acquires at least a part of a global map representing positions of objects in a real space where a plurality of users are in activity; a local map generating unit that generates a local map representing positions of nearby objects detectable by a device of one user among the plurality of users; and an updating unit that updates the global map based on position data of objects included in the local map.
Abstract:
A method of evaluating and diagnosing performance of an operating wireless sensor network without disturbing or burdening the network is disclosed. The operating wireless sensor network includes a plurality of operational nodes. A system, which comprises a plurality of detecting nodes and a performance evaluation and diagnosis platform, is provided in order to implement the present method. After time synchronization, the detecting node is connected with an operational node. After the detecting node estimates MAC or network layer address of its corresponding operational node, it will capture any transmission of or around the operational node, and upload captured packets to the evaluation and diagnosis platform. The evaluation and diagnosis platform produce a report by analyzing the acquired information from all detecting nodes.
Abstract:
A burn-in socket includes a base, a number of contacts received in the base, and a protecting device. The base has a first projection and a second projection. The protecting device is assembled to the base and moves from a first position to a second position relative to the base. The protecting device includes a planar bottom plate and a pair of spring arms extending upwardly from opposite sides of the bottom plate. Each spring arm has a first stopper for engaging with the first projection at the first position, and a second stopper for engaging with the second projection at the second position.

Abstract:
A method, system, and product are described for creating and managing affinity between memory and processors in logical partitions in a data processing system. The data processing system includes multiple processors. A memory affinity data structure is established. The memory affinity data structure identifies ones of the processors that have a close affinity with each one of multiple regions of the system memory. A memory affinity parameter is established and is utilized to determine whether memory affinity is required for each one of the logical partitions. In response to a determination that memory affinity is required for one of the logical partitions, the memory affinity data structure is utilized by a partition manager for the logical partition to allocate an optimal amount of memory that has a close affinity to ones of the processors that are assigned to the logical partition.
