    摘要: Apparatus and methods for spinal surgery include a retractor with an elongated body extending along a longitudinal axis between a distal end and an opposite proximal end. The retractor defines a passage between the distal and proximal ends and a window opening into the passage adjacent to the distal end. The apparatus also includes a guide member extending laterally from the proximal end of the retractor and the guide member includes a body extending along an arc. The body defines a number of trajectories each intersecting the window of the retractor. The apparatus further includes an instrument removably mounted to the guide member and the instrument is movable along the guide member and securable to the guide member in any one of the number of trajectories so that the instrument can be moved along the selected trajectory through the window.

    摘要: Spinous process implants and methods relate to a spinal implant with two plates that are connected together by a post. The implant is configured for each plate to be positioned on outer lateral sides of spinous processes with the post extending through the interspinous space. The second of the two plates includes a bore that receives the post, and that plate is movable along the length of the post, and selectively lockable in position. A guide is removably attached to the distal end of the post and acts to guide the placement of the second plate during assembly, particularly assembly in situ during surgery. The guide is advantageously flexible, or at least more flexible than the post, so that the guide may be routed conveniently during surgery. The guide is removable from the distal end of the post after assembly, prior to closing the surgical site.

The armor stop includes an elongate arcuate armor stop wall having opposed inner and outer surfaces. The inner surface defines a conductor receiving passageway for receiving one or more conductors of a second-sized cable having a diameter smaller than the first-sized cable.     摘要: A one piece integrally formed liquid tight connection or "whip" assembly for electrically interconnecting electrical appliances, such as air conditioning units, hot tubs, swimming pools and outdoor lighting fixtures, to one another and/or to a power source junction box or control box. The connection assembly includes a flexible tubular conduit, preferably constructed from a composite of full rigid PVC and flexible plasticized PVC, having first and second end portions and an outer surface with a plurality of surface irregularities. A pair of end fittings are integrally attached to the first and second end portions of the tubular conduit, respectively, using either a solvent welding or temperature welding technique. When using the solvent technique, the plurality of surface irregularities operate to hold additional localized amounts of solvent which further reacts with the plastic in the end fittings and conduit to yield a superior weld. Each of end fitting also includes an external annular seal ring for engaging the electrical devices. A plurality of conductors extend through the tubular conduit and end fittings which provide electrical communication between the electrical devices.

    摘要: A distal femoral cutting instrument includes an intramedullary rod for referencing the patient's intramedullary canal. A valgus block with a flat reference surface mounts to the intramedullary rod at a bore of the valgus block. The bore of the block has a slant with respect to the flat reference surface on the valgus block. The reference surface defines a line that is normal to the mechanical axis of the patient while the bore of the valgus block tracks the patient's biomechanical axis. A distal femoral cutting block removably attaches to the valgus block and provides a flat cutting guide surface for shaping the patient's distal femur. The valgus block, intramedullary rod, and a stylus (for connecting the valgus block and cutting together) are removed as a unit before shaping of the distal femur. An indexing system includes a gauge having a series of openings corresponding to "anterior" referencing and to "posterior" referencing. During anterior referencing, the gauge allows the surgeon to select the next smaller size prosthesis if the size falls in between available sizes. In posterior referencing, the gauge allows the surgeon to select the next larger size prosthesis if the gauge measures a size that falls in between available sizes.
