Abstract:
A display apparatus includes a first substrate and a second substrate. The first substrate includes a light shielding layer including a first opening which transmits a light. The second substrate includes a shutter including a second opening which corresponds to the first opening, and a first flexible electrode part which is connected to one end of the shutter and transmits or blocks the light by moving the shutter. The first flexible electrode part includes a first flexible electrode, a second flexible electrode, and an insulation pattern. The insulation pattern insulates the first flexible electrode and the second flexible electrode from each other, and exposes upper and lower surfaces of the first flexible electrode and the second flexible electrode which are parallel to the second substrate, by covering portions of the first flexible electrode and the second flexible electrode.

Abstract:
A liquid crystal display apparatus includes a gamma mapping unit configured to receive red, green, and blue image information from an external device. During the first field, the gamma mapping unit generates first to third data signals for controlling the first to third pixels based on the red, green, and blue image information in synchronization with the backlight unit. During the second field, the gamma mapping unit generates fourth and fifth data signals for controlling the first and second pixels based on at least one of the first to third data signals or based on the red, green, and blue image information. As the quantity of the second color light leaked is adjusted through the first and second color filters in the second field, a color reproduction range and brightness of the liquid crystal display panel are improved. Thus, the display quality of the liquid crystal display apparatus is improved.
Abstract:
A display device includes a backlight unit, a display panel, and a controller. The backlight unit comprises a plurality of first light sources in a first direction and a plurality of second light sources in the first direction. The display panel is spaced apart from the backlight unit in a third direction substantially perpendicular to the first direction and comprising an edge portion defined along at least one side thereof and a plurality of pixels. The controller generates an edge image data corresponding to a plurality of edge pixels disposed in the edge portion among the pixels, the edge image data is generated on the basis of a first angle between the third direction and a first imaginary line connecting the edge pixels and the first light sources and a second angle between the third direction and a second imaginary line connecting the edge pixels and the second light sources.
