A QoS-based call admission system and method for a mobile communication system. To establish a call for a mobile station according to the QoS of the call, upon request of setup of a call requiring a QoS guarantee, a base transceiver station determines whether a channel element is available. In the presence of an available channel element, the base transceiver station determines whether a remaining bandwidth can support a data rate required to guarantee the QoS. If the data rate is supported, the base transceiver station assigns the channel element and connects its intra switch to a base station controller. Then the base transceiver station transmits a call accept response signal to the base station controller.

A liquid crystal display includes an insulating substrate, gate and data lines formed on the substrate to define pixel areas, or collectively a display area. Gate signal interconnection wires are formed at a corner portion of the substrate outside the display area to transmit gate electrical signals, and provided with gate signal interconnection lines and first and second gate signal interconnection pads connected to both ends of the gate signal interconnection lines. A gate insulating layer, and a protective layer are further formed on the substrate, and provided with first and second contact holes exposing the first and second gate signal interconnection pads. Gate and data signal transmission films are attached to the substrate, and provided with first and second gate signal leads and first and second gate signal wires. The first and second gate signal leads are connected to the first and second gate signal interconnection pads through the first and second contact holes. The first or the second gate signal lead completely covers the first or the second contact hole at least in the longitudinal direction of the lead.

A method for manufacturing a LCD device includes forming a first electrode on a lower substrate so as to be connected with an external terminal on the periphery of the lower substrate and forming a liquid crystal cell on a central portion of the lower substrate. A passivation layer is thereafter formed on the overall surface of the lower substrate. A first portion of the passivation layer which overlies a contact area of the first electrode is then removed using a laser beam directed through the lower substrate at the contact area of the first electrode and the overlying passivation layer. A conductive layer of paste is formed on the contact area of the first electrode, either before or after the removal of the first portion of the passivation layer, and an upper substrate is assembled to the lower substrate so that the conductive layer forms an electrical connection between the first electrode and a common electrode formed on an inner surface of the upper substrate.
