    摘要: A system for controlling the reciprocation of a scanning apparatus includes scanning device for scanning an original from a home position across the original to a scanned position and returning it from the scanned position back to the home position, a D.C. motor for driving the scanning device, and a switching circuit for providing electric power to the D.C. motor. A control device is coupled to the switching circuit for controlling the speed of the scanning device such that: the scanning device scans across the original at a predetermined constant speed; when it reaches the scanned position, the scanning device starts to return back towards the home position by application of a constant supply of power having a predetermined level; and thereafter it is gently returned back to the home position with less deviation.

    摘要: An image data management apparatus which provides a pull-print mark for a file which is expected to be printed at an externally connected image forming apparatus, that is, to be subjected to pull-printing. It is possible to provide the pull-print mark for a plural number of files. When a user commands pull-printing of such a file at an externally connected image forming apparatus, a search is made within the files provided with the pull-print mark. Thereby, the load on the image data management apparatus for searching the file is light. In order to permit a user to command pull-printing at a printer with a simple user interface, simple authentication codes may be used.

    摘要: An additional data useful for the management of copies of a document for an image forming apparatus is embedded in a hard copy of the document. The additional data is embedded in an inherent image of a document as discrete dots arranged in a prescribed format. Preferably, the size of each of said discrete dots is not so large as to be recognized easily with naked eyes. The additional data can be embedded in unit of blocks. Further, the density of the discrete dots is different from the density adjacent to the discrete dots. The image data for embedding an additional data can be obtained by reading a document, or by receiving data sent from a computer or read from a floppy disk. An additional data embedded in a hard copy can be extracted from the image data on the hard copy. Further, the production of a copy according to the image data can be controlled according to the extracted additional data. For example, if the additional data means that the source of the hard copy is a secret document, the copying is allowed only for a legitimate user. An additional data is generated for each copy according to the extracted additional data for embedding it in a hard copy to identify each copy. The additional data generated for each copy are compiled and they are used to manage copies of various sources systematically and illegal copies can be traced easily. If the additional data received from a printer is not consistent with the additional data already stored, the printing may be prohibited. A transmitter for transmitting an additional data may be provided in a document such as a book.

    摘要: Additive information for restoring the contour of an image is generated and embedded in the image data. The format of the additive information is determined beforehand. When a hard copy is produced, the additive information is extracted from received image data. The additive information is for example vary small characteristic points of a density different from the density assigned for image data and arranged inside the contour. The image data is restored according to the extracted additive information. The additive information can be generated for example from the code information for generating patterns such as control points data of an outline font. For a half-tone image, a plurality of density bands is assigned to the additive information. A read error is detected by comparing the restored image with the received image data.
