摘要: An inkjet printing system (10) includes two inkjet fluid ejectors (14, 15) fluidically coupled to a respective reservoir (16, 17), one of which contains a colorant inkjet ink composition (18), and the other of which contains a latex coating composition (20). One of the fluid ejectors (14, 15) is configured to eject the colorant ink composition (18) onto a medium (24) to form a printed image (26). The other fluid ejector (14, 15) is configured to eject the latex coating composition (20) on the medium (24) i) on a region of the medium (24) surrounding the printed image (26), or ii) on the printed image (26) and on the region of the medium (24) surrounding the image (26). The optical density of the printed image (26) is improved.

摘要: An inkjet ink composition includes latex polymer particles. The latex polymer particles are present in the ink composition in an amount ranging from about 0.5 wt % to about 40 wt %. The latex polymer particles have: a Tg ranging from about −40° C. to about 125° C.; and up to about 100% of total cross-linkable sites being present: on surfaces of the latex polymer particles; throughout a bulk of the latex polymer particles; or combinations thereof. The latex polymer particles are formed from monomers including at least one hydrophobic monomer, at least one acidic monomer, and at least one crosslinkable monomer, the at least one crosslinkable monomer including at least one keto group. The ink composition further includes at least one cross-linker compound selected from the group consisting of diamino compounds, polyamino compounds, and combinations thereof. Yet further, the ink composition includes at least one colorant and at least one aqueous solvent. The latex polymer particles are configured to form a crosslinked latex polymer film as and/or after the aqueous solvent is depleted from the latex polymer particles after the ink composition is applied by inkjet printing onto a medium.

摘要: The present disclosure provides inks, systems, and methods directed towards polyurethane encapsulated pigments. In one embodiment, an electrophotographic ink can comprise an electrophotographic ink vehicle and a polyurethane encapsulated pigment. The polyurethane encapsulated pigment can comprise a pigment and a polyurethane, wherein the polyurethane fully encapsulates the pigment and forms the outer-surface of the polyurethane encapsulated pigment with a surface roughness of less than 100 nm. Additionally, the electrophotographic ink can have a residual monomer content of less than 0.01 wt % of the electrophotographic ink.

In one embodiment, an electrophotographic ink can comprise an aliphatic solvent and a pigment having a surface comprising carbonyl groups stabilized by an amine dispersant having the structure: R1R2N[(CH2)nNR5]m(CH2)pNR3R4, where R1, R3, R4, and R5 are independently selected from the group of H; COR6; COOR6; CONHR6; linear or branched, substituted or unsubstituted, alkyl; linear or branched, substituted or unsubstituted, aryl; and combinations thereof; R2 is an aliphatic polymer chain; R6 is selected from the group of H; linear or branched, substituted or unsubstituted, alkyl; linear or branched, substituted or unsubstituted, aryl; and combinations thereof; m is from 0 to 200; n is from 1 to 20; and p is from 1 to 20; where the electrophotographic ink has a low field conductivity of less than 200 pS/cm and a viscosity from about 0.5 to about 40 cps.

摘要: An ink-jet ink printing method and associated system can have a printer including an ink-jet ink. The ink includes an aqueous liquid vehicle, 1 wt % to 5 wt % pigment, 1 wt % to 5 wt % acrylic polymer particles, 0.3 wt % to 3 wt % urethane polymer particles, and is formulated to print on a vinyl medium. The system also includes a heating device. Upon applying heat to the ink-jet ink printed on the vinyl medium, the polymer particles in the printed ink fuse, and form a film encapsulating at least a portion of the pigment on the vinyl print medium.

摘要: A method of manufacturing a liquid electrophotographic ink includes: mixing a first portion of a carrier fluid and a resin to form a resin mixture; heating the resin mixture until the resin has melted; cooling the resin mixture to form a resin cake, followed by pulverizing the resin cake to form a resin powder; and mix the resin powder with a pigment and a second portion of carrier fluid in a microfluidizer to form a concentrating ink containing composite particles. An alternate method of manufacturing a liquid electrophotographic ink includes: mixing a pigment with a resin powder; and microfluidizing the mixture together with a carrier fluid in a microfluidizer in a number of passes to form a concentrated ink containing composite particles.
