摘要： An image forming method that includes the steps of providing a developer comprising at least colored resin particles, a fluidity improver having a specific chargeability and magnetic particles wherein the colored resin particles have a volume-average particle size of 4-10 microns and a specific volume-basis particle size distribution; supplying the developer to a surface of a developer-carrying member disposed opposite to a latent image-bearing member having thereon an electrostatic latent image; carrying the developer on the surface of the developer-carrying member; and developing the electrostatic latent image on the latent image-bearing member with the developer in a developing zone where the latent image-bearing member is disposed opposite to the developer-carrying member to form a toner image; wherein an alternating electric field comprising an AC component and a DC component is imparted to the developing zone under specific conditions.

摘要： A height adjustment device is provided that has a first chassis having an adjustment hole, an adjustment screw that stands when threadedly engaged with the adjustment hole in the first chassis, a second chassis locked by the adjustment screw so as to have a preset separation distance from the first chassis, and biasing means for biasing the first chassis and the second chassis in the direction of attaining separation therebetween. The adjustment screw has a tip portion for forming a female thread in the adjustment hole when rotated and inserted into the adjustment hole, a threaded portion having a male thread threadedly engaged with the female thread formed by the tip portion, and a head portion for locking the second chassis against the direction of biasing by the biasing means, in a nearly linear state. The distance between the end of the head portion of the adjustment screw on the male thread side and the end of the tip portion on the male thread side is made larger than the sum of the length of the inside diameter portion of the adjustment hole in which the female thread is formed, the maximum value of the distance between the first chassis and the second chassis and the thickness of the second chassis.

摘要： A two-component developer is formed as a mixture of a negatively chargeable toner and a resin-coated carrier. The toner comprises at least a binder resin, a colorant and an organic metal compound. The organic metal compound is an organic zirconium compound having a coordination or/and a bonding of zirconium and an aromatic compound as a ligand or/and an acid source selected from the group consisting of aromatic diols, aromatic hydroxycarboxylic acids, aromatic monocarboxylic acids, and aromatic polycarboxylic acids. The toner further includes an external additive comprising hydrophobized inorganic fine powder having an average primary particle size of 0.001-0.2 &mgr;m. The resin-coated carrier has a 50%-particle size of 20-70 &mgr;m.

摘要： A color toner for developing an electrostatic image contains a binder resin and a colorant. The color toner has a weight average particle diameter of from 3 .mu.m to 7 .mu.m. The color toner contains from 10% to 70% by number of color toner particles with a particle diameter of 4.00 .mu.m or smaller, not less than 40% by number of color toner particles with a particle diameter of 5.04 .mu.m or smaller, from 2% to 20% by volume of color toner particles with a particle diameter of 8.00 .mu.m or larger, and not more than 6% by volume of color toner particles with a particle diameter of 10.08 .mu.m or larger. The color toner has such a coloring power that an image having been fixed on a transfer medium has an image density (D.sub.0.5) of from 1.0 to 1.8 when an unfixed color toner on the transfer medium is in a quantity (M/S) of 0.50 mg/cm.sup.2.

The toner particles are prepared by suspension polymerization and contain at least two components comprised of a high softening point resin-A and a low softening point material-B. The toner particles each have a structure separated into a phase-A mainly composed of the resin-A and a phase-B mainly composed of the material-B. The phase-B is absent in the vicinity of the toner particle surface, ranging from its surface to a depth 0.15 time a toner particle diameter. The toner particles contain an organic solvent, a polymerizable monomer or a mixture thereof in a quantity of not more than 1,000 ppm.

Then the toner amount consumed in the image formation based on the entered image data is determined by multiplying the image ratio, the size of the print medium to be used and the toner amount consumed per unit area in a solid image formation.

摘要： A color toner has (i) color toner particles containing at least a binder resin and a colorant and (ii) an external additive. The inorganic powder selected from the group consisting of a strontium titanate powder, a cerium oxide powder and a calcium titanate powder, and a hydrophobic fine alumina powder are externally added to the color toner particles as the external additives, the inorganic powder has a longitudinal average particle diameter of 0.2 to 2 .mu.m, and the hydrophobic fine alumina powder has a longitudinal average particle diameter of 0.005 to 0.1 .mu.m. The binder resin is a polyester resin crosslinked by a crosslinking agent. The color toner particles contain 0 to 20 mg/lg of a chloroform insoluble matter. The color toner has a storage modulus (G'.sub.130) of 2.times.10.sup.3 to 2.times.10.sup.4 [dyn/cm.sup.2 ] at a temperature of 130.degree. C. and a storage modulus (G'.sub.170) of 5.times.10.sup.3 to 5.times.10.sup.4 [dyn/cm.sup.2 ] at a temperature of 170.degree. C., and a value of G'.sub.170 /G'.sub.130 is in the range of 0.25 to 10.
